Kate? Perfect! Just... perfect. I can only pray that this will signal the end of the strapless wedding gown era.

The Queen in yellow? Divine!!

Beatrice and Eugenie? My next-door office neighbor just came and said they looked like Cinderella's ugly stepsisters, and I fear I must sadly agree!

*chuckle* I liked their hats. I was sad to hear that their Mum was not invited though. I like Fergie.

I forgot about the Queen, she looks grand in her yellow outfit. My firts thoughts about her outfit were that it was an outfit made to celebrate.
Maybe it's just me beeing overly romantic.

Angie, I always really liked Fergie, too, and I'm sorry she wasn't invited! And I'm sitting here actually tearing up at the fact that poor Diana wasn't there to see her boy marry. :`(

I thought the same thing, Mary. We must believe that Dianna is watching from her fluffy white cloud in the sky. She truly was one in a million.

How cool is this!

Will be interesting to see what Kate wears for the evening reception.

I'm hoping some evening reception pictures will be available by the time i'm off work this evening.

I'll echo others who enjoyed the Queen's outfit. I thought it was very celebratory and fun! i thought her broach was expecially lovely....

I am sure that Diana is with them in spirit! William appears to be a fine man. I'm hoping he's made her proud. In thinking about Diana this morning, I wondered to myself if Diana would have liked Kate. I don't follow the family closely...so I really don't know much about Kate. She seems like an elegant poised woman. I have no idea what her 'causes' were....but I hope she gets out and about and is among the people.

I also randomly wondered if they will have a family 'right away' or if they will wait......

I can't believe it--I stayed up until 4am, GLUED to the TV.
I loved, LOVED Kate's dress, veil, tiara and hair. Angie--what about her hair and veil did you not like?
I agree that the flowers seemed terribly anemic for the occasion--I mean, you could SEE the plastic holder!
But it was Pippa's dress that made me gasp and go "I want to wear that to MY wedding!!" Not since Carolyn Bessette Kennedy have I seen a dress that appealed to me in terms of what I'd want to wear, but Pippa's McQueen totally did. Unfortunately, I think I would need her extremely lean frame to wear it as well as she did!

I've mentioned my model friend, Maggie Rizer, on this forum before. BBC sent her over to the wedding to report on the fashion! I haven't seen that coverage yet but she comes home to San Francisco tomorrow so I can't wait to pick her brain about all the details!

Oh, one last thing, I'm sorry that Kate did her own make-up. I have always thought her penchant for the heavy undereye eyeliner to be unfortunate. In my mind, it ages her and makes her eyes look smaller. I wish she had had her make-up professionally done for this special occasion. On the plus side, it seemed very true to her and, I agree, not too powder-y.

Yes! By all means get the skinny from model friend Maggie and share it with us!

Auburn, I thought that the veil and her hair looked frumpy. She's 29. Vintage is great, but that part of her outfit was a let down for me - and she has killer long hair. Grace Kelly wore a very similar dress and her veil and hair looked better - in my eyes anyway. FWIW

I love hats... even edgey slightly weird hats... but those of the cousin princesses? Ugh! "Fascinator" slid into "man repeller" territory for me there! And what was with the normally impeccable Posh spice? She looked several years too late to be an extra on one of the Addams family flick sets... A little healthy pregnancy weight gain might do her a world of good. I was willing to be interested for one morning, but now I think I most just want to see these young ones put their heads down, do their work, and not indulge in a lot of public drama. L

PS... The real highlight for me?? Live trees in the cathedral! BRILLIANT!! L

I too thought Kate looked fantastic. I didn't mind the veil, although I would have liked it better if it wasn't so drapey -- you know, if it was a little stiffer. The tiara was elegant though.

I heard that Kate was required to wear a gown with full-length sleeves. The sheer lace applique was a great way to accomplish that without looking too heavy. I just loved the bodice and skirt of her gown, too -- all princess without the meringue! Her sister looked fab too.

Speaking of meringue, you all remember Lady Diana's wedding dress, I'm sure. Does anyone have an opinion? My mom and mother-in-law came over at 2 a.m. to watch the wedding with me, and the topic of Diana's dress came up. I said it was the most enormous, ridiculous dress I've ever seen. My mother-in-law thought it was ugly. My mom said Diana looked gorgeous, but I think it was just that her youth and beauty were able to transcend the horrific wedding gown.

Edit: I'm pretty sure that Beatrice and Eugenie were having a silly hat competition. I bet one of them said to the other, Let's see how stupid we can make our hats and still get away with it. I think the winner was whichever one had the hat stuck to her forehead like a unicorn's horn.

I was just thinking that her veil was a bit of a nod to William's great-grandmother...

I would love to be in the room when Harry gives his speech!

I think the next topic of conversation will be children and of course what they will call them - my bet is on Alice or Victoria for a girl and George for a boy.

I though Kate looked breathtakingly beautiful! Her dress was perfect in my eyes - so classic and elegant. I happened to love the simplicity of her tiara and veil. She looked like a medieval queen coming down the aisle. And those trees in the cathedral! Just lovely!

Pippa also looked beautiful and chic in her dress. I'm sure we will see instant copies of both dresses.

I hadn't realized that Fergie wasn't invited to the wedding. I wonder if her daughters might have been trying to make a statement concerning their mother's omission. I'll have to look online for a photo of them to get a better look. I wish Fergie could have been there to see her nephew married.

I'm sure Diana would have been so proud of her son and his new bride. I remember watching her wedding as a newlywed myself. I was in Paris the night she died and it was so heartbreaking. She and Kate would have been good friends, I think.

I wasn't able to watch the wedding and woulod love to see any good links. I'd especially like to see what Kate's parents wore. I loved Kate's gown and Pippa's too. I heard a big discussion yesterday anticipating which tiara Kate would choose. After seeing it, I'm wondering if it was one from the royal collection at all. Just curious.

Yes, definitely from the royal collection. It is Cartier, given by George VI to the Queen Mum. It is called the Halo tiara.

Yes Joy, it was a royal tiara, apparently it was presented to Queen Elizabeths mom by her father and the Queen has worn it herself too.

She is wearing a strapless gown to the evening reception.

Incidently, I wore a strapless gown and couldn't have wanted for a perfect dress (and me mother would have let me know if it wasn't). Mind you, it was made for me and fit like a glove.

Also, I don't know what people have against Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. I do think that there were elements of what they wore that weren't good, but others that were. I loved Eugenie's skirt colour for example.

I also feel bad that Diana is not alive to see this day. William seems like an extraordinarily well-adjusted young man. I'm sure she would be very proud and happy for him. And I'm sure she would love Kate.

As for Fergie, it did seem harsh that she wasn't invited to the wedding. But, then again, she did try to sell "access" to her ex-husband to earn money for herself...yipes! I feel bad for her daughters that she wasn't invited since it makes things awkward for them, but I can understand why the royals might want to be done with her.

Londonkiwi -- I have nothing against Beatrice and Eugenie! I've read that they are lovely young women. I was just making fun of their hats, because, well.....come on. If you wear hats like those, you must be expecting some teasing. Then I thought, maybe they're doing it on purpose to be funny.

Oh, drat!! I was out all morning ..... I must play catch up!! I didn't miss a moment when Diana got married so I am really irritated i missed this. I am also sad that Diana isn't there:(

I just think that they would have appreciated your humor. I do think that they cop some rather nasty critique sometimes, especially in the media.

Kate's reception dress!

Equally stunning, in my mind!

Fi,
I have finally caught up...Kate is STUNNING with her simple yet elegant dress!! Love everything...but those hats are too funny!

Hope your little princess is doing well:)

I just looked at the pics and I agree with you, Angie, about the hair/veil/tiara thing she's wearing. Not up to par with the McQueen/Sara Burton dress, IMHO. It's like she took something couture and fabulous and made it more mundane and run-of-the-mill somehow.

I agree with you, Fi, about Eugenie and Beatrice. I don't get the hatin' on their outfits! Eugenie is wearing Vivienne Westwood (bold, punk British designer), Beatrice is wearing Valentino (Italian designer), both are wearing Philip Treacy hats (mega-famous, revered British hat creator). Victoria Beckham was also wearing one of his hats. They are bold, somewhat avant garde looks, but I certainly wouldn't say they were wearing anything that was in poor taste.

Well, I'm late to the conversation here, but I did catch the latter part of the ceremony and the carriage ride - at the very civil hour of 5:30am here in the Midwest. I really cannot imagine a more flattering dress on Kate. It was stunning. And Phillipa was nearly her equal. Well done, Middleton sisters!

High five, Jonesy. I saw what you saw.

I really liked Beatrice and Eugenie's hats! A bit of OTT fun is fab. And they are young, totally pulling it off, don't you think

Thanks for the evening edition of Kate's outfit, Auburn. Now *that* is KILLER - from head to toe.

I will pat myself on the back as I've been saying for weeks that she would wear a lace bodice and simple silhouette dress. It just seemed so right for her, and I loved it. It was a wonderful occasion, with one very big gap. Can only imagine how proud Diana would be of her boys.

I DVRd the ceremony but haven't had the time to watch it yet - but have got some glimpses of the wedding dress (which I think was gorgeous!) - and I just have to put in a good word for Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie - I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED those hats! They were so FUN - I bet they just had a ball wearing them!

I loved Kate's dress, and hope that brides will now have all options available in gowns ... sleeves, sleeveless, strapless. I watch that show on TLC with the wedding dresses and I'd guess over 90% are strapless.

I loved her sleeves, the bodice, the pleated skirt. It was beautiful.

My DD and I were enchanted by the British fashion ... all the fun hats! We wore handmade fascinators to watch the wedding. It was so fun.

ETA: I loved the veil, especially after seeing the great-grandmother ... so vintage.
