Anyone ever got annoyed with one of the following (in no order of preference):

bad posture
weird grimace pretending to be a smile
awkwardly placed hands
bad lighting
messy background
bad camera position
timer not set
twisted wardrobe pieces when finally everything else was in place

I wasn't going to give up on... well, me... but, I mean, seriously - 25 takes!

ETA: I do have a life, you know... a family to look after, a home to keep in order, a new language to learn so I can function normally, job ads to keep an eye on... mentioning just in case. This just got out of control after the 5th take - THEN I reached the point when I thought "wait a minute, I didn't just waste this time to come out with nothing, lemme try again"....

and 5 became 15 then 25...

so, yes, feel free to laugh.

Oh yes, I usually take my picture quick when I arrive at work, and some mornings I just give up!

@Shannon, I'm glad I'm doing something right

@Suz, this is exactly what you'll avoid when you get the right equipment. My humble and terribly slow camera is propped on a folded wooden chair that leans at the opposite balcony wall... the only space I have to take photos *sigh*... but girl's got to do what but girl's got to do.

Ha, Ornella, my setup is my cellphone balanced in a cut-off Tim Horton's cup balanced on an empty cardboard box standing on its end!

That's really funny! My husband takes my pictures but since I don't think he really looks at me when he takes them, I'm not sure he's any better than a tripod. He never tells me if my clothes are twisted or my hair is goofy. He's a fairly good sport about taking my picture every morning but he's in a hurry usually and doesn't want to take any more time than necessary.

Oh we're SO on the same page! I own a tripod and a camera and have lots of natural light coming into my apartment, yet my photos are dark and dingy with atleast 2 unwanted items sticking into the picture (broom, shoe etc) and my home is pretty organized if you're actually in it! On top of all this, I prefer to keep my face blurry so that makes the photo even more drab! But it's a cosy NY apt and my photos are fated to have cluttered looking spaces and I'm convincing myself while typing this! Oh, I haven't reached 25 photos yet, but looking at the quality of the ones I've posted so far, I should have persevered till then!

Too funny! I completely relate to this. To get one good capture, there are normally 10 or more in the trash when I'm done. I hope to see the whole of this outfit eventually, as the details look promising!

OMG yes! The tripod is not forgiving. I usually give up after about 3 takes though!

Hahaha Ornella! Too funny! Yes, I am a perfectionist like you. I take at least 5 or 6 pics of each outfit, maybe more (not including detail shots). And now you know why I also keep taking my pics with a handheld camera in the mirror, even though the lighting is bad, because at least I can see what I look like while I'm taking the pic. I think it would take me forever to get a shot I was happy with if I used a timer and tripod.

I hope we get a chance to see the whole outfit because I love what details I do see! The collage is very artsy!

I employ my kids, but must add that it doesn't make the results at all more reliable, just makes the chance of getting more than about 3 minimal....

Hence, most of my photos are blurry, weird, have an Air Conditioner Unit and/or a Purple kiddie swimming pool (left from the summer) in the backround. *sigh*

LOL! I rarely get a photo "right" on the first take. One reason why I often have the camera in front of my face is because it's the easiest way for me to snap a photo.

Haha, I do this all the time, and it has on occasion made me miss the bus. My camera has a setting where it does 3 consecutive shots on the self-timer, which helps a bit with weird faces and things, although it does not solve the crooked clothing problem. For some reason my biggest problem seems to be that my necklaces like to migrate to one side? I don't really think they do that IRL, so I don't know why they're always crooked in my photos. Oh, and since Angie and others express a strong preference for seeing faces in WIW photos, I always feel like I have to get a photo where my face looks good too!

I always take my photos in the same spot, so my camera angle, position, and focus are pretty standard, and I usually take them in the morning so the lighting is OK. And I just crop out most of my messy backgrounds...

Necklaces migrating? I know that one! It's because you lean over or work around the camera, then go to take your position - by that time the necklace had moved and it was probably the last thing you were fixing on yourself or even thinking about before the flash went off.

Ornella, I've taken upwards of 50 pics of myself to get one good one. 25 is not a lot! But yes, it's frustrating.

(I would not ask hubs to take any WIWs. He thinks it's all silly. So I do what I can with my low-tech phone.)

Story of my life---except now the SO is on photo duty and refuses to do more than 4-5 shots at best. And as you know, that is *not* enough for one decent pick! So I have two choices: (1) Delete All and (2) grin and 'bare' the least offensive on YLF. I know I take scores when I'm photographing myself in the mirror...
