Fess up! How much time do you spend on YLF?

OK, just curious how much time you all spend here? One big chunk, or few minutes here and there all day? Try to estimate an actual number of the total amount of time per day (or per week if you're here infrequently). I'm trying to figure out what the average is, and what is reasonable. I am trying to limit myself to 15 min a day, but it's quite a struggle and I'm not sure how feasible that is long term!

I'm on from time to time everyday! A little more now that I am using a phone for internet, but when I was using my PC it used to be twice a day - afternoon after college and night before sleeping.

Natalie, here's my confession!!! On work days I have YLF open on my desk top and depnding how busy I am I pop in and out throughout the day. However on a busy day I might not come by at all until I am home and relaxing after dinner. I have the phone app so when I have a free minute while out and about I might take a look at whats happening with the real time posts.

However long it takes for me to scan through the forum, read any threads that catch my eye and respond if I have anything worthwhile to add. I view on my phone and usually pop in first thing in the morning, I can't jump straight out of bed and need to time to wake up. I also come back while watching the telly in the evenings and do the same as above, I may also pop back back several times over the course of the evening. Looking at the clock now I've been on 20 minutes now and aren't ready to leave yet x

Same as Louise above. I usually check in in the mornings. I teach so I'm not on during the day at all but then I'm on and off several times through the course of the evening depending on what else is going on. I might be on perhaps as much as 1- 2 hours a day other times half an hour. When I first started I spent hours at a time going through the archives. For me to try to limit myself to 15 mins a day would be totally unrealistic.

Well, as I am fairly new to YLF I am also spending lots of time on older threads, and I am easily sidetracked by related articles and recommended stuff.
At the moment I have my lap-top sitting on the kitchen bench and I to and fro between chores.
I guess it's around 30mins to 1 hour daily, but might eventually pan out to 15-30mins.

Minimum of an hour. I think 15 minutes is unrealistic. I also like to spend time online window shopping, but my local shopping is very limited.

Maybe half an hour in the morning, half an hour in the afternoon at work and then about an hour at night, so approximately 1-2 hours a day depending on my schedule.

Here and there during the day.
Some days up to 2 hours, others, none.
I usually look up the blog and scan the forum in the morning for up to 20 minutes. Then I might come back during the day or evening if I have time.
I'm hooked, I admit.

It's probably an hour or so. I don't switch on my laptop until I've done my work, but often look at YLF while I'm eating lunch, and may pop on and off again during the afternoon. I would find it very hard to stick to 15 minutes a day!

I usually reply to a few posts on the way to work (like now). It's my preferred break at work when I have down time. And I check in to the forum here and there at night when I am cooking dinner or after I put the kids to bed. I usually don't have too much time or energy to reply or start posts at nigh though.

I'm on several times a day during the week, but not at night or on weekends. I have to say that YLF is a fun and informative site, with wonderful people to chat with.

Some days I'm on for maybe 15 minutes in the morning while I have coffee, and then I'm not on again until late in the evening for another 10-30 minutes. Sometimes I am in the studio with my computer and have YLF open in the background and pop in for a few minutes here and there while I wait for files to batch process or eat a snack. And some days I have more leisure time to really catch up a bit more and might spend a solid hour here.

So I'd say typically I spend 30-60 minutes here a day. It's interesting to think of this in light of my other online habits (Facebook, Flickr, other blogs, Jezebel, etc.). I can fritter away a lot of time online if I'm not careful. However, I discovered after about a year of self-employment that it's important for me to have online communities in my life since I no longer have a social working environment!

I spend quite a bit of time - I like to visit YLF first thing in the morning with my coffee while I wake up. Maybe up to half an hour (morning), depending on what I've got going on. I also come back later at night, after dinner and chores are all done, which is at least another half an hour or more. I also pop in and out throughout the day - it's a little break from work.

Total time would be at least one hour a day during the week, sometimes more. And I don't even post pictures yet. I can't see being able to do much of anything in 15 minutes. I could read the front page/blog, read maybe one or two posts in the forum and that would be it. I wouldn't have time to reply to anything or ask anything.

Before work and after work on my laptop, and throughout the day on my phone. I'd say maybe 2 hours per day. Sometimes less, sometimes more. Currently I'm getting my morning YLF fix, before I start getting ready for my day.

I don't know why I don't post more if I "lurk" so much.

I tend to leave my computer on and use it for little breaks. So I pop in and out and when it says I am online in the forum, I am often not actually there. I kind of split my online time between style and politics. I don't post photos here so I'm not putting in extra time with that. My favorite threads are the ones to do with purging (choosing) and defining one's style for oneself.

I'm on YLF probably a total of 2 hours in a day, but it's 10 minutes here, 10 minutes there so is really hard to calculate. Like others, I will pop in several times a day during the work day to reply to a post and then off again...it's hard to say accurately.

Between 0 and 45 min, depending on work and family. Some days I have no time at all, or I only have time to read the blog (I work at home most nights after the kids go to bed). Other times I use it to unwind after the kids go to bed, interspersed with work.

I don't have time to watch TV except for the occasional Colbert Report online, so YLF is my "TV" - it's the only down time I get most days besides reading the paper, which these days (what with the war and the election) is not very relaxing.

we don't have tv, so online is my entertainment. some days ten min. if i'm really rushing around with things to do, other days maybe an hour if i'm posting something or making long, involved comments. one way or another i do limit myself to four comments a day so i don't go overboard.

like Vildy, i tend to open about forty tabs at at time and then read throughout the day, so most of the time when it shows i'm online i'm not. being online can turn into a time sink, i often set a timer to keep track of where i'm spending my time.

it's funny - since i'm a SAHSpouse i don't get a lot of intellectual stimulation in my job. I find that most of the hard thinking i do is in the writing i do online, in forums and on my blogs. After seeing how this works for me i'd be a little worried about cutting all that off as my brain would be getting less exercise!! steph

I already posted this in your other thread, but I'll add it here as well. I'm on about an hour per day during the week and maybe two hours on Saturdays. For a while I stopped posting on Sundays. I've been on a lot more the past few days because it's spring break and I'm not working.

I can't get on frequently during the day because I teach. So if I get to work early enough I like to log on and read the blog post for the day. I'll read Angie's post, mull over any exercises she's suggested, and usually leave a comment if I have one. That alone sometimes takes as much as 15 minutes. If I have a few extra minutes I'll pop over to the forum and read and reply to a few threads. I limit my morning participation to 20-30 minutes. Then when I get home and settled for the evening I like to check back into the forum for another 30-40 minutes. I usually wait until weekends to post my WIW photos and I like to lump several into one thread, so that it doesn't eat away at my time during the week. Just so you know I had originally tried to limit my daily participation to 30 minutes, and it just wasn't enough time for me to read, reply, and post my own threads.

Lately I'm off and on throughout the day, but I know it's far more than a total of 15 minutes, probably an hour or more. I'm not sure if I could do just 15 minutes!

For me, it's really variable from day to day and week to week. It totally depends on my work schedule and family obligations. Today I'm working at home, grading papers, so I will probably be on and off all day (I can use YLF as a reward for finishing certain numbers of papers :). Other days that are busier or I'm on campus I'm around here much less.

I'm usually not on for more than fifteen minutes at a time, but some days, like the days I'm working at home and periodically waiting for paint or ink to dry, I'm on and off quite a lot. Other times I don't check the blog for several days in a row.

It would be vastly more if I posted photos of myself, of course, which is one of the reasons I don't do that.

Guilty guilty guilty! Right now, maybe an hour a day. 1/2 hour at the beginning, 1/2 hour on bus ride home (fancy buses with wi-fi!) The new gig is keeping me busy. I have been known to spend hours, hours here!

I do keep it open too all day, just in case I get a minute to have a looksee...

It depends on the day, really. Some days I'll be here for a couple of hours (broken up over the day). Other days I don't get the chance to check in at all. I guess a weekly average would be 8-12 hours?

When I first joined it was much higher than this. Probably 15-20 hours a week (at least).

It varies every day. If i am home and my computer is on then YLF is open in a tab and I check it throughout the day. As active as you are in the forum and posting pics I would say 15 minutes is definitely not enough. You need a good hour, maybe 15 minutes for your own pic/blog post, 15 minutes to read and comment on Angie's blog post and another 30 minutes to skim thru the posts and read and respond.
