I have been experimenting this month with wearing my hair in its naturally curly/wavy state. I've gotten a lot of good feedback on it, both here and in person, and Lord knows it's been awesome to just wash and go in the morning. And the just-rolled-out-of-bed wavy bob seems to be having a fashion moment while the flatironed look seems to be fading.

And yet. I haven't felt comfortable. I think I am naturally inclined to a more polished look, and I feel like my hair in its natural state says "I forgot to brush my hair" rather than "I am fashionably curly." In short, I don't think I'm pulling it off. I also think it's a little aging.

And yet, and yet. Part of me rebels at the idea that I should tame my locks to look (a) more professional, and (b) more attractive to men. And yet, and yet, and yet, I do indeed want to look (a) professional and (b) as attractive as reasonably possible to men.

I've about decided that this has been a failed experiment because I feel more comfortable with the straightened locks, except perhaps on casual weekends. But I feel kind of bad that I feel like I have to be artificially polished, and I also worry that the straight look will become hopelessly passe, and that will be aging in and of itself.

Thoughts? Permission to straighten? Pep talk about being one's unkempt self?

1. Best case curly -- this happens once in a blue moon
2. Medium-okay curly
3. Worst case curly
4. Straight

Oh, and of course I want you to be honest!
