Bootie toss up - Help me choose :) ETA - #2 wins!

Since my post last night, I feel like I am in dire need of booties now. http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ew-shoes-4

I had been half heartedly looking all winter, but now I feel like it's much more essential to my wardrobe.

What do you think of these 2 picks? I had been considering both. I like the suede of the first ones, they have a little higher heel, 2.75". But suede may not be so practical in snow. I thought they would be a nice contrast texture to leather leggings though.

The second are more manly looking, but the heel is practical. I dig them.

I am loving #2 - the heel height is perfect (it looks about the same as my Sam E Pettys and they are super comfortable) and the sleek leather seems up your alley

I also have booties similar to #1 and both are in suede as well. They are equally fun, but I don't wear them enough for the suede to show wear. It would be tougher to pick if #1 had the same heel height as #2.

I really like pair #2, but pair #1 is cute as well. It looks like you can't go wrong no matter what you pick.

#1 are a EM Dicker knock-off. I have a similar bootie in taupe suede by Report, and it is super comfortable and I love it. (I do not know how Aldo shoes compare for comfort; last time I tried to wear them they were agony on my feet). That said, I LOVE my Reports and really enjoy wearing them - they're well balanced and fun. However, with the wider opening at the top, it can be difficult to wear them with jeans that are not rolled or tucked into them. Skinnies do not go over that opening too well. Straight legs or bootcuts are fine.

#2 are like the SE Pettys. They would be great. If you are worried about black leather with black leather, how about picking another colour (assuming that's possible)? Or going for something that has texture or print? There are probably some similar booties available at a good price point now.

I prefer #1, both for your leather look leggings and in general, but I get what you're saying about suede and snow (or worse, road salt, the mortal enemy of pretty suede boots).

Do you plan to wear them with pants, and if so, are said pants PPL for one heel over the other?
Can you live with only wearing the suede ones on days they wont get eaten by the elements?

I had a similar dilemma earlier this year, and ended up getting two pairs of black ankle booties (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....one-closet). I wear the leather ones about twice as often as the suede, but I do not regret having both, as my other winter boots are either gear or heeled.

I'd like to vote #2, but really that is just me and my preference for a lower heel. If you would wear the 2.75" comfortably both would be good. Id rec. spraying the suede with a protectant if you go that route.

I'm leaning slightly towards 2 at this point because of the snow+suede thing. With skirts and shorts, would 2 work ok....or 1 would look much better?

Ceit they are on sale...and if you sign up online you can get a 10% discount to use online or in store. I'm thinking I will go try them on today, I am sometimes an 8 there, sometimes 8.5. We can rock them together with our club monaco shirts! Did you get yours yet?

These booties look like the two pairs of Aldos I bought late last year. I thought the suede would especially look good with black tights. I am finding that I reach for the leather ones much more. My suede ones might have a slightly lower heel than the ones shown, but I find myself reaching more often for the lower alternative. Also, the leather goes better with my graying hair than the black black of suede, and suede is just more fragile even without rain.

In terms of leg length/leg shortening, the lower height of the leather bootie seems to make up for the flatter heel. This has made me think that maybe I wants lots of short booties with minimal heels. . . .

Is this for the leatherette pants? If so, I choose the suede ones. Leather pants with leather shoes is a bit OTT, IMO.

Either works (and I consider them 2 very different shoes because of the suede vs leather and heel). Use waterproofing spray and get a suede brush.

Nice Ceit! I am still contemplating. They didn't have them in store so I'd have to guess between 8 and 8.5 for #2. I tried on 1 before and was an 8.5 because of the heel height, but their flatter shoes I'm usually 8..... These ones are sort of in between though...

I would go with #2. The heel in #1 seems quite high, especially with snow and ice, and suede tends not to be long for this world when worn anywhere near road salt! This time of year, can you even walk out the door without road salt getting on everything?

Haha, no Thistle, you are correct. The salt is everywhere. And maybe 2.75" heels are not practical to lug an 8 Month old.

I took a guess and got a 10. I am pretty much always a 10 in their shoes because the 9 is often a titch small. Free returns so I decided to gamble wearing the blue shirt tomorrow if I don't have norovirus!

Can't wait to see it on you! Free returns eh? Hmmm.....maybe I will just go for the 8.5. I'm pretty set on 2 now, just hope they don't look too dumb with leather leggings. I would like them for a change from tall boots for all my skinny jeans though.

Maybe you are more graceful than I am, or maybe my DD just squirms more. No way I could wear heels that high and lug her in her car seat, and the diaper bag, and everything else and walk in those! Beautiful shoe though!

I sorta relegate suede to the same place as silk dresses - as far away from my toddler as I can get them!

I am far from graceful, but I like silk too much, so I do wear it. I also wash it in the washer though

UD - well I think both boots would actually fit into my wardrobe quite nicely, but at the moment I went for #2. They will go with a lot, and maybe I will keep my eye on #1 now and if the go on sale, who knows!

I love #1, they look like the famous Isabel Marant booties.
As for suede, it depends on the leather used. I once had suede booties that I used in the snow without problem, and others that didn't even tolerate rain.
