We don't have long, cold winters in Vancouver, but we do get A LOT of gray skies and wet weather. Eventually everyone gets the rainy day blahs!
I am looking forward to spring, too. It's not so much the winter clothes that annoy me, as they offer lots of opportunities to layer, and I like that. It's that I'm desperate to wear lighter shoes with sockless feet. And that's not going to happen for months!
Sometimes a new piece, something you've never owned before, can help. For example, I was at J. Crew recently during their January sale, and picked up a fine-gauge navy blue merino sweater for about $30. It was an experiment. I love wool, but it can bother my skin. But I thought, for $30, let's give it a try. It's great! It's soft and very stretchy, so it can comfortably be layered over a white or pinstripe button-front without making me feel stiff and bulky. And I can wear it on its own, and it has nice drape. It turns out that it goes with just about everything in my wardrobe. I've never had a sweater like that, and honestly don't think I've worn a sweater of any kind in a decade. I've had such fun playing with it. So yes, if you're going to shop or thrift something, why not try something you've never worn before? Might infuse a little fun into the remainder of the Winnipeg winter...which isn't going to end anytime soon.
