What I'm most sick of is THE SALT!! this time of year, road salt dust is on everything cars go anywhere near. The cold doesn't get to me as much as getting it on my clothing every. single. time I get out or go in my car, move near other cars, touch outdoor railings, brush against the side of a buliding. BAAAGHAAGHAH! it bugs me!

I was all ready to move on a couple of weeks ago to spring fashion and then was flabbergasted why everything looked so terrible. The need to be warm was not playing well with trying to trot out the spring style.

Winter has been bizarre here so far. So up and down. Mostly quite mild with little snow -- and then flashes of DEEP freeze and major snowstorms! But I got to wear my booties into December (and even the other day).

Even so, yeah, I'm a bit tired of y regular clothes.

My solution is going to be a true seasonal rotation. And instead of 4 seasons, I'm saying we have at least 6. And I'm literally going to rotate clothes OUT of and INTO the closet to mark the change. I've already started this process (in the fall/ winter) but it's not complete because I still have a lot of wardrobe holes. It is working pretty well so far, though.

I don't know if I will choose 33 pieces or how many (that seems a bit arbitrary) but at any rate, I'm going to pick some reasonably small number -- maybe 40, not counting accessories, formal wear, workout wear, coats, or appearance-wear. Just for everyday smart casual and casual clothes.

There will be some overlap between seasons, for example my fuchsia knit jacket is an early fall, late fall, winter, early spring, spring piece. But some pieces will be JUST for their six week season, e.g. my summery linens, my thicker wool blazers and pants. Or at most they might overlap two sub-seasons.

Not sure if I am making sense, but basically, it's the same idea as rotating a toddler's toys! I will play with what's in the closet till I get bored and then switch seasons!

Yup I certainly do! What I try to do to get out of the blah winter clothes funk is find colors that help remind me of the great weather in spring and summer. right now im loving the color mint. its so soft yet is easily transitional to wear in both the winter and spring. by adding a pop of mint to my wardrobe whether in buying a top, dress, shoes, etc. I have a little of spring color in my typical grey and black winter colors. I also go out and shop the latest spring/summer and or resort wear in accessories. Getting a bright orange necklace or bright blue earrings adds a little pop of color that can carry me into the coming seasons!

I would like to say I am in the crew but 3 purchases from Christmas, new shoes, and 4 thrifting finds have me excited still. I am trying to think that shopping isnt the answer... except when it is. Carefully and intentionally!

I wish winter here were long enough for me to get sick of it.

Heh. I have another 4 months to go. Am occupying myself by combing and recombing through my closet culling orphans and spring/summerwear. It is tedious but this is my main season (9 months!) and I don't feel guilty about purchasing for it - though I am still doing the 12x12.

Totally know what you mean. Although I would say I wear my winter clothing from mid September through to the end of April. xD

I found that I'm not getting too bored at the moment with my winter things, and I think it's because I'm exploring spring colours-- I've been wearing a lot of grey and mint lately, with some dusty rose thrown in. But the items I've been wearing have been winter ones-- fleecy grey leggings, chunky mint turtleneck, etc. I'm also having fun with attempting to tie my scarves in different ways. xD

I'm sick of wearing the same 3 coats over and over. I want a whole wardrobe of coats and jackets, but I have no room or budget for that!

Wow - fantastic replies ladies!

It sounds like all of us have the potential to get sick of the clothing for our dominant season, whether that be hot or cold.

And Spiffy - I completely HEAR YOU about the salt problem....aaaahhh....don't rub against the car.....

I think for me it's not so much about wanting to get into the spring clothing, it's about wanting more variety for the winter clothing, if you know what I mean. Right now there doesn't seem to be much point in buying transitional pieces since we still have two hard months of winter here. So what I want/need are a few more true winter pieces that can extend my winter wardrobe for a while longer. So I went shopping for just that....see my other thread if you're interested in what I bought.

I already know I'm going to plan better for next fall/winter with a larger wardrobe.

Me too, Shannon, going through seasonal fatigue here. Despite new clothes for Christmas... with our weird weather of storms, snow, frigid cold, I feel I have to put most of my wardrobe on hold. There is actually only a small % that I get to use because it has to also agree with my coat and boots. I love my Canada Goose coat, but boy, I'm getting so tired of it. Trying to vary scarves and hats, but there is only so far this will go.

Underneath, I must wear things that are not too bulky, yet layerable. Once inside a place, I never know how warm or even hot it will be. I miss wearing my booties outside the most.

Suz, toddlers toys LOL!

I think winter may be my dominant season and I like my winter clothes, mostly. I think I look better in layers to add colour and texture. But I am sick to death of my warm puffer, boots and carrying shoes to work.

When summer comes I will complain how to add interest and still meet my dress code

Im going to be no help at all... I could dress for winter all year round and not get sick of my clothes. But I definitely suffer this seasonal fatgue in summer. Now I am thread jumping to view you new thifted items

Sounds like seasonal fatigue relates to our dominant season, doesn't it?

I get tired of my winter clothes but not nearly as much as with my summer clothes. This year the cold weather came late but we still probably have at least another month. Like you I get desperate for something different toward the end of the season, And the sales are a huge temptation. If I do buy, I'm telling myself just one thing. We'll see how that goes.

I'm glad you picked up a few new things for the rest of the season Shannon (I'll pop over to that thread in a minute). Just wanted to comment that it took me two years to come around to the idea that I really DO NEED to have more variety for my dominant season (um... let's just call it "rain"). I'm still not quite there yet (winter is especially a lacking area in my wardrobe), but I will say that I am not nearly as fatigued with my wardrobe this year as I was last year at this time. It is worth having the extra items, for sure. And Ariadne I'm with you, I want wool coats in all colors of the rainbow! But I only have black, gray, and cream right now

I love my winter clothes. I mostly wear cashmere/alpaca/merino sweater or cardigans with a merino base layer to keep me warm. I don't wear my aran sweaters in the winter as they are quite bulky under my Aigle down coat. I love Inverallan sweaters/cardigans but I find that new wool/lambswool is not warm enough for me.

The weather in the UK never gets too warm in Spring or Summer and it is often slightly cool in the Summer.

I love scarves and I just put a colourful scarf to add a little fun to my outfits!

I'm tired of my winter clothes too. I just don't have that much variety than I do with my spring and summer clothes, although it is cold and rainy for a long time. But I also don't want to spend money on more winter clothing. I think I just have to make do with them for a while and try to plan better for next fall.
