I hear you Nadya! I am not looking forward to our PNW "spring" :p Separate from scouring inspiration photos, I have found that I really do need to do lots of little things to keep myself from getting too down about things from January through March. A few of the things that have worked for me:
- I like to have a pair of boots, either purchased earlier in the season or right up new, that I don't pull out until January. That is a big upper! Last year, it was a pair of tall nude boots that my husband bought me for Xmas. It could also be a pair that I just won't wear during fall/winter so it feels new later in the season; for example I have a pair of nude short boots that I generally wear in early spring through early fall and then put away for late fall through winter.
- I put away all my cashmere and Proper Winter Sweaters in March, and pull out a few seasonal springy items that can handle the rain like my white blazer, lighter gauge sweaters, and sheer blouses, all of which can still be paired/layered with wintery items but inject some springy lightness. The rest usually stays neglected until late April when we get proper Spring weather.
- Having a new pair of jeans or pants in a different cut/color/print can help a lot; again, doesn't have to be new new and could just be something that I put away for fall/winter and pull out again in March so it just feels new for the season. I have a pair of very wide leg jeans and a pair of light gray wide leg trousers that fill this role.
