Last week certain someone pointed out some conservative elements in my cardigans driven outfuts, so I had no choice but try and step up my game and bring the dresses out.

Dresses instantly make me feel feminine and are the easiest thing to wear. Angie said in one her blog posts (I’ll add the link if I manage to find it) they *are* made for us ladies and we should make the most of them – one of those obvious things that I could never put into words because it is so obvious. Yeah, I like to beat around the bush, in case you haven’t noticed yet.

I heart my very few dresses even more because they are such a challenge to find for someone of my frame (no, the highstreet does not really cater for tall pears), so the ones do that make it to my wardrobe are destined to become the workhorses. Huggable, without exception.

So, let’s meet the stars of this week’s show.

  • Purple A-line dress – this is the exact one as the much loved red dress. By divine intervention it appeared in the sales in my size after actually being sold out in the stores, so I had snatched it. A day or two after buying it Angie had blogged after Fashion Week that purple takes a back seat in Autumn 2011. I will happily ignore the mainstream because this dress is worth it and I wear purple for how it makes me feel. The simplicity of the dress, the richness of the color and the style make my heart jump. As a girl from the warmer climates, I don’t mind cold days dragging on a bit longer so I can wear this dress – *that’s* how I feel about it.
  • Black ponte-knit LBD – It will get worn out before I grow tired of it. Everything about it makes me happy.
  • Black ponte knit CK dress – one of those items I had to compromise with and I am actually happy I did. Not the ideal length and no surprises there, but somehow the fullness of the skirt made up for it and I probably have another year or two while this length can be tolerated on me. Turtlenecks, t-shirts, scarves, belts and hose elevated this dress’ ‘workhose’ attribute to a league of its own this A/W.
  • Red A-line dress – purple’s fraternal twin. Love. It. Immensely.
