Welcome 2009

January 1st, 2009

The 1st of January brings with it a sense of renewal. Out with the old and in with the new! But new doesn’t have to mean “brand new”.  Forum member Laura puts it well:

“it feels right at this point to re-use, recycle, re-purpose the things we already have”.

In 2009 I’m looking forward to finding, suggesting and discussing ways in which we can all look and feel brand new, within our means.

We at YLF wish you and your families a happy, healthy and fabulous New Year!

Thanks, Angie. This sounds like a great plan for everyone. I’m eagerly looking forward to your posts for the new year and up-coming seasons.
This time of year Jan-March for much of the US, is the hardest to get through fashion-wise. We get tired of our cold-weather clothing, but it’s still too cold out to do much about it except shop for new things we don’t really need. Help appreciated!

What a great topic for the new year.
I have been on a kick of organizing the house. We live in a small space and I have finally gotten my mind around living as such. Nothing bogs me down more than mess and confusion.
I’ll focus on an internal sweep now too. Thanks for helping me find the insight and Angie.
HAPPY 2009 EVERYONE!
My wonderful husband gave his blessings for me to spend yet another chunk of our money on software for my hobby of computerized embroidery and sewing. I’ll go and give him a big hug and kiss for helping to kick off 2009 with ‘brand new’ interest in my hobby.

Angie- What a great thought to start the New Year off with. Our family has been embracing Laura’s ideas for the last few months and it’s been so rewarding. I’d love to hear ways to accessorize things that may already be in my closet so that I can have an updated look along with a healthy bank account. You are so talented I can’t wait to see what you have to share in 2009!

I just had my scuffed-up and stained, but still in good shape tan Frye boots dyed black at the cobblers. They look brand new! For $45. It’s given me inspiration to repurpose. Happy New Year to everyone!

Angie, this is spot-on! The economy and the green movement challenges us to be creative in our consumerism. It’s time for change. I look forward to your insights on how to be green and be fashionable.

Happy New Year, love! oxox
