ZOMG! Alternative leather jacket find!

I am so sorry to overload the forum with all of my deliberating, but I just happened to stop in to Macy's on my way home from teaching a make-up class, and found another leather jacket that I think might work better. I like the quality better on this one than on the ASOS one (it's completely lined, for one thing) and I think the sharp shoulders are less dominating on my body. But I defer to you. Something I don't really like about these shoulder-padded jackets (both the BCBG and the ASOS) is that when I raise my arms, the shoulder pads move up too.

This new jacket was rather spendy, shall we say, but it was much less spendy than it might have been (i.e. it was dramatically reduced--like $400+ off) and YLF is teaching me that it is worth splurging sometimes. What do you think? I have included a picture of the ASOS jacket too, for comparison. I think I'd prefer to keep only one.

I'm sorry I look so awful--just got home from hours commuting through snow but couldn't wait to try some outfits (just a few possibilities) and get some feedback! Thank you!

Whew, that thing is gorgeous, especially with grey in #3 and the dress in #4. And of course it's killer with simple jeans/tee/boots, too. It's got more structure than the ASOS one, so I think it looks more flattering. It also just looks more luxurious than the other one. But, will the color work in your wardrobe? Do you lean warm or cool?

I would not do the scarf with it or zip as in #6 because it seems to come up really high on your neck already.

That is one cool jacket, Stephanie. The only thing which bothers me is that the neckline comes too high on you even when it is open. I think you look better when you have a deeper neckline. Can you fold the lapels down?
The color is very similar to my leather trench which I posted some weeks ago so of course I like it. If your coloring is warm it should work for you.

I actually lean cool in my wardrobe, but I already have a black moto jacket. And I have enough warm colors to have plenty to wear this with (plus I like it with grey, which is my favorite neutral and the one I have the most of). I guess the question is whether the color looks good on me. I don't have anything this color except the PB blouse I'm wearing with the trousers. I have worn the heck out of that blouse this season, but I usually wear it with grey (which is on the known-okay-colors list).

LOVE!!! The new one is so unusual and looks great with jeans. I vote the taupe one- more flattering on you!

Stephanie, I love the shape and fit of the taupe jacket. I do share your concern about the color--when I compare photos 2 and 3 I feel like the color of the scarf works better with your skin than the color of the jacket.

Neither one of these strike me as "10s" ... the defined shoulders combined with the necklines shorten your neck and make your shoulders appear hunched up.

Unfortunately, I'm with Anne. The strong shoulder makes you look uncomfortable to me, the high neckline isn't great, and it looks "off" when it's zipped up. I would save the $ for something that's absolutely perfect!

I agree with Anne and Kate. Sorry! The shoulders look too high, like you are mid-shrug. I prefer the ASOS jacket for that reason. However, I think you might want to just keep looking until you find a real 10.

I think it is a great jacket, though not for you. I agree that it makes you look as if you are "mid-shrug". You are absolutely on the right track !!!!
