Zara watermelon blazer - what do you think? UPDATED

Remember when I said a few posts ago that I can never find blazers that fit? I guess God heard me!

I tried on this Zara jersey blazer today (which crazyone bought after the NYC meetup) and I liked both the colour and fit. Again, can't buy till April, but if you guys like it, I'll put it on my wishlist. What do you say?

Very nice color! Are the sleeves rolled up because they are too long? It may be the way you are standing to take the pictures, but it looks like it's pulling a bit at the button--can you move it over a bit to give yourself some room? How does it feel in the shoulder & arms? Can you move about comfortably? Can you cross your arms? Lift them over your head?

Sorry if I'm being too hard on you...I just want to make sure you put a real winner on that wish list....you deserve that!

Sunita: I love you for being so concerned the sleeves are a wee bit long, but that is the case with me with most tops and jackets. I didn't roll the sleeves though, the SA told me it is supposed to be styled this way. I can cross my arms, extend them, lift them - I checked! The button didn't feel too tight. I see it does pull a tiny bit but not enough to bother me since I plan to mostly wear it open. What do you think now? Worth it?

Lovely! It looks like it fits very well through the shoulder and upper arm, which I think is the most important point to fit on a blazer. My one concern is that the button looks slightly too low on you but it could be the angle of the photo. In any case if you are planning to wear it open it does not matter.

ETA for Sunita - I just checked and even my go-to blazer blazer (Pic 1) fits just like this one when buttoned. So I'm happy with how it fits. When a blazer pulls on me it REALLY pulls, like the H&M one in Pic 2.

Kirti, I'm not sure. It could be just the angle of the photo. It looks OK in photo 1, and a bit too low in #3. On me button placement makes a huge difference because I need it to be at my natural waist and not below it. I'm really short waisted and also a high-hip pear, so a too-low button makes the lapels gape outwards and makes me appear wide.

At the NYC gathering, when Janet and I were trying on jackets @ Bloomingdale's, Angie mentioned button placement making the "stance" of a one-button blazer being too low as well, so I figured I'd better pay attention to it!

Diana: That makes total sense. I did find that it gaped open a bit as I moved - it must be the lower 'stance'. You're right - it definitely hits lower than my natural waist and being an 8 shape, it would emphasise my high hip too. Oof!

I think the blazer looks great. I love the color on you and it looks nice buttoned but very nice unbuttoned. I am tempted to see if I can order one online I like it so much.

I'm back, and you've allayed my concerns. Definitely put it on your wish list!

If you want jackets that you can button up, you should look for a slightly higher stance, and maybe 2 buttons to "lock and load" the girls!

I really do love the blazer, but it might not be a 10 for my body type, so I'm going to think about it a little. I'm sure that if this isn't THE blazer, I will find something better

Like Diana says, the low stance might be immaterial if you're not a button-up girl. That said, did you SIT down in it? Was it still comfy?

UPDATE: I went back and tried it again and while the colour is lovely and it looks great open, the stance is definitely too low. My husband (the angel!) had given me the go-ahead to buy it, since I have been having trouble with blazers, but I somehow could not bring myself to part with €50 for a blazer that isn't perfect. Oh well. The search continues Thank you all for your advice and comments.

Good for you! :- ) I really admire your stamina on getting the right item. I get inspired to be as patient as you. In the long run, I believe it will pay off :- )

It is also sooo much easier to keep on looking when you exactly what flatters you and how the best fit is. I'm already learning a lot from this forum
