I personally would want to see it pressed a bit before assessing the fit. It may drape differently once all those wrinkles are gone and the fabric relaxes a bit. If you're in store can you request them to do a steam for you?
Update: I tried the small and even the XS and even on the XS the armhole gape is just too big for me. Short, torso, narrow back… just not the cut for me. I don’t want you have to layer under this kind of dress. I’d be working too hard to make it work. Next!

Janet, what if you wore it with a pretty blue bra, or a bra in a colour that was "meant" to be seen -- something lacy and white, hot pink, etc? Would that be enough to make it wearable for you?
Carol, I thought about that, as I do have a pretty blue bra, but combined with other factors, I just don’t feel like this is the dress for me. The armholes are not just deep but wide, which makes even a nice-looking bra too much on display for my taste. I wear a large cup size so the visible bra with side-boob look on me is not really so cute. LOL
Sorry it didn’t work out, Janet. The armhole issue would be a no go for me too. We have a very similar climate, and I really wish it were easier to find breezy summer dresses. Good luck.
This is exactly the problem I have with a lot of tops and dresses in summer, especially oversize cuts. I had to send back this BR tee for the same reason (plus, it was too sheer).
Like you, I'm short waisted. With a narrow back/ small band size. And I'm also just plain short, which adds to the problem, LOL.
Well, you've saved me from trying this one, Janet -- thanks!
