I don't like the gap around my ankle but considering that these will be worn in fall/winter with pants/jeans, the gap will mostly be hidden. What do you guys think?

The gap would bug me, too. What pants would you wear with them -- are you planning to tuck pants into them or wear pants over them? And will your pants actually fit over them? (I have had trouble with boots I love not quite fitting under pants, or looking silly under cropped pants, when I sit down, etc.)

Yeah, they are a bit gap-py. Try to wear your skinnies over them and see if they look OK. I think the gap may be too big to wear true skinnies over but work for straight legs.
If this heel works with your bootcuts they definitely will work - love the pointy almond toe.

If you don't wear skinny peg legs, they should be fine with jeans/pants. Maybe not so good with skirts.

I wonder about ankle boots. I know I have toothpick ankles, but I also think they're designed for piano legs. People don't have piano legs... Or do designers like the flower pot effect? I don't understand...

Ummlila, i will be mostly wearing pants over them. I don't own any super tight skinnies. I guess there is only one way to find out which is to try my pants on with these boots.
Sveta, after the big purge, I currently don't own any super skinnies or bootcuts that will go with these boots. I was planning to wear them with my slouchy skinnies or straight leg pants.
rachy, I am in the same boat as I have very skinny ankles and it is very hard to find ankle boots that don't have the flower pot effect. I don't understand either.

Sounds like the gap would bug you...can you try them with straight legs and see? Such a nice boot.

Mona, I am so perplexed by the lack of well-fitting ankle boots at, well, the ankle!
I am finding that even if I'm targeting pants, the amount of gapping shown above really interferes with how my pants fall over the boot. I've gravitated to a straighter leg (still wide by some standards). Any hem less than about 17" around will hang up on the back of the boot when I sit and then stand up. These are non-jean type pants, though. Or maybe you plan to tuck the hems in?

Nicole, I am planning to try them with straight legs. If they don't sit right, I will gladly send them back.
unfrumped, I see what you mean about non-jean type pants getting hung up on the back of the boot when you sit. It would drive me crazy. Looks like these will go back.

I find this discussion quite fascinating as the issue of gapping around the ankle of boots cut like this has popped up several times lately. I guess I've lived happily oblivious to this and never realized it to be an issue. I never wear lower cut ankle boots with pants - ever (unless they are rolled bf's or skinnies) . To me it feels and looks messy (as everyone has mentioned above) and these boots are meant to be shown, not hidden. . There are taller short boots around which work better with pants and straight leg jeans falling over them - and they usually have zippers on the side - no? I'm thinking of the SW cropped boots done every season as an example. Mona, I notice here that you haven't tried them on with heavier socks - which might give you a better visual and the boot may look less stark against your lovely bare leg:) I have thin ankles and calves too - but for some reasons this has never bothered me. It's meant to be a casual boot filled up with a heavier sock, not a fitted boot for dressier clothes.

Are the cognac boots comfy, Mona? I love the shape of the toe box.

These wide ankle booties are making a bit of a fringe fashion statement. I saw them on LK Bennet too. Personally, I do not prefer the gaping on a bare leg. But lets see the look with jeans and pants, Mona. Make sure it looks fab and feels fab.

Agree with Angie about the shape - that is the first thing I noticed. I am a little concerned with how the suede will hold up too. But they look fantastic, please model with jeans etc.!
