Last time I made a call to Zappos customer service, they asked if I wanted to join their VIP program. They said it would always guarantee free overnight shipping. So even though I always end up being upgraded to free overnight shipping from them, I signed up to secure it, if that makes sense.
Well the last order I placed was given regular standard shipping. Since I wanted it delivered on Monday, I canceled. Then I placed another order, and again it was given regular shipping, so I called about it and they said I had to remember to sign into the Zappos VIP site every time I want to place an order with overnight shipping. If I forget to do that, my order is given standard shipping and I no longer get the automatic upgrade. The first time I called customer service and they asked me if I wanted to sign up, they never mentioned this to me.
I know it seems like a small thing, but I do feel sort of scammed by a so-called service-oriented company. Have they stopped doing automatic shipping upgrades for regular customers? If not, VIP just seems like a ripoff.
