I'd really like your honest feedback on these outfits & which of the boots/shoes you prefer. It's for a casual party & I won't know many people. I'd like to project a relaxed, approachable arty vibe (if such a thing is possible). Sorry about the quality of the photos - I'm working on it......

Outfit 1 is so cool!! And definitely with the arty vibe. I like the shoe on your left foot with this outfit, which seems more arty/avant.

#2 is more relaxed and approachable. I prefer the shoe on your left foot here because it bookends the jacket and suits the structured nature of pants and a blazer.

Both outfits are superb.

Caro this is the first pics I have seen from you. What a gorgeous woman you are... Both inside and out:)

I love #1! No question this outfit communicates what you hoped for. The red shoes look best. You look very "cool" arty and exude warmth. Dress/tunic over pants is one of my favorite looks.

The second outfit it really nice also but sees arty/business-y to me.

I really like #1 with the "strappy" burgundy shoe. I think your look in #1 satisfies "approachable", "arty", and "fun" requirements, and the color looks great on you.

Caro! So wonderful to SEE you. You are gorgeous and your outfits are exactly what you hope - relaxed, approachable, arty. I love them both, but I'm especially smitten with #1 for the colour, which is lovely on you. I agree with Denise's suggestions about the footwear.

Can't wait to see more of your style.

I really like the soft slouchy trousers. I would love to find myself a pair of those this fall/winter.

I think both outfits are fabulous. I could see either shoe with the first one, but might actually go with the loafer. I prefer the darker shoe with the second outfit. You have great style!

Well hello there Caro! First off, absolutely LOVE your hair! You look beautiful. As for the outfit, I'm crazy about #1 - that arty, drapey top in that delicious colour is fabulous on you. Like Denise (Cocolion) I prefer the shoe on the left foot. Looking forward to seeing more of you on the forum!

Wow! You nailed "relaxed, arty and approachable." Love both outfits. Agree that #1 has slight edge because the color is just so gorgeous. Please tell us about your tunic... where did you find that? It is amazing. Also I have to say I was going to "just say no" the the slouchy tapered trouser trend, but seeing them on you..... I am now wavering...

Thanks Suz. The pants are my first foray into this style since the 80s, oh dear. They are French Connection & currently on sale here in Australia (where it is spring).

qpswan, Ah yes the comfort factor I didn't think about that. They are both comfy (too old to do anything else I'm afraid) but you have a point the strappy ones have more support.
shiny - thank you! The tunic is a knit (linen & viscose blend) it's from England a brand called Almondine. I'm not usually a knit person. I can't wear wool & they can make my top half look bigger but I found a couple that hug the side bust/underarm area & I like them both on me.

Why on earth has it taken you so long to post pictures? Here you could have been inspiring me all this time! I feel cheated.

Seriously, I love your outfits here, both of them. #1 definitely nails the look you were looking for here though, although you could up the artsy-fartsy element of the second with the right accessories, like say, a pendant necklace with a feather in it, or something fabulously quirky without being weird, if you get my drift. And I am going to be one of the dissenters, favouring the smoking slipper over the strappy shoe, despite the fact I'm not normally a fan of smoking slippers. With this outfit, it just clicks.

One more vote for #1! Though outfit #2 is just fine, your first communicates everything you said you wanted it to. You look just gorgeous! Enjoy the party. (I haven't posted any pics yet; seeing yours makes me feel a little braver.)

Boring, I know, but just chiming in to say I agree, you are beautiful, and #1 with the strappys is my fave.

I really like #2 for another occasion, and I am looking for a pair of pants with that kind of drape to them. What brand are they if you don't mind me asking?

JulieJohn the pants are French Connection & currently in store but I'm in Australia & it's spring here.

A cat & a dog (morethanbeiges picture & Alicat's comments) just as well I'm an animal person. I love golden retrievers they are so friendly & smart (& usually know where the food is).

Merci about the French Connection pants. They don't have a store in my state, and I'm too chicken to order online without a try-on. However, I have your photo in my "inspirations" computer file, and now I know just what I'm trying to copy!
