Your thoughts on these loafers

I am thinking about adding these to my spring/summer wardrobe. I currently have no loafers. Just wondering what do you all think about these? I am very attracted to the orange ones but doubt that they will be versatile.

Before clicking through, I thought you were referring to the first pair when you mentioned orange - I actually quite like the bright orange ones with contrast sole, and the b/w snake print. They are cheeky statement shoes, whereas the black and cognac are more typical, non-ironic penny loafers. Which ones would be more versatile depends on your style, I think. I always struggle with penny loafers looking very old fashioned and not current, which is why I'm probably drawn to the edgier colors. But if you have a very fashionable, or alternatively very normcore, style then the basics would work better.

They look more cognac to me. I find this color very versatile. I have cognac booties and tall boots, and find them very versatile.

As for the animal print, they are awesome! I am looking for a leopard or animal print in sneakers, not slip ons as they fall off my feet, and they seem to sell out in my most popular size really fast. These prints in footwear seem to be big this year. So of course, I would get pair no. 2. also the other ones look more patent leather to me, and I am not a big fan of patient, unless it is in dressy flats or pumps.

Laura, I still struggle with this style of shoe as I find it outdated too but recently I think it can look stylish if you wear with modern pieces.
always trying, I just added the orange one too in my post. The white sole gives me a pause.

I LOVE the orange. Those would be super fun.

ETA I find orange shoes to be extremely workable in the summer. Really. Depends on your wardrobe, but I find they are kinda like a neutral on the foot.

I tried them on the other day - and actually had the black/white ones in hand to buy....then put them down and walked away. They felt great - nice and cushy. I did take a half-size smaller than usual, fyi. And.....I agree with Jackie re the wearability of orange shoes in summer. I've had such great success with orange.

I like them The toes is not too round which makes them more current. And the orange would look great with everything, Brown, black, white, all blues. Oh, and grey.

I love the white soles on the orange pair - it makes them look so fresh and summery. They'd look great with white jeans or shorts, or with anything denim or chambray.
I think the black/white pair would be good too, and you could wear them much earlier in the season.

I love them! In fact - you just made me add them to my wish list FYI cole Haan made a pair last year that were cognac with orange accents. I bought them and love them for their comfort and versatility. You might want to see if they have something similar this year as you could have the best of both worlds

Well, ladies. I am glad to see so much orange loafer love around here. I am going to pull the trigger tonight as they are on 40% off (oh wait, does it even matter? GAP/BR/ON seems to be always on sale).

No - not at all. They are fine for what they are. I have this tendency to buy the first things I see if they fit, and sometimes wish I had waited to see what else is out there first. I also find that the things I buy too far in advance of actually being able to wear them - these fit into that category - I don't end up wearing. So - I didn't particularly need them, and decided to save myself the $90 and walk away.

I tried to buy them but the 40% off does not apply to footwear. So I will wait and see if they come on sale in a month or so.

I see the brown as the most classic, the animal print as having a lot of versatility for dressing up or down, and the orange as a fun wildcard. For the orange, what other colors do you have in your wardrobe? I can see them working well with white, cream, grey, olive and denim. And good luck with the sales!

I have an orange pair of casual shoes (I call them rust . . . think bright orange rust) that add zing to many of my outfits. I love them. Wearing them makes me smile, adults comment on them and littlies are drawn to the happy colour so everyone enjoys them.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. It's a classic style; if they're comfortable on your feet, you'll probably reach for them often. I love the orange and added them to my finds. Maybe they could be a spring/summer wildcard for me, as I typically don't wear orange.

I want the orange pair!!!!! I have a gift certificate for Gap, and if they fit me, I am getting those. Perfect for summer and for hotel wear. I love those. The white sole really makes them, I think.

I think the orange ones are a no-brainer for you! They would work really easily into your summer wardrobe with white and brights. Or even pastels. Remember how they are pairing brights with pastels? I am excited for you!

I actually like the snakeskin ones for you for transitional season. They would bookend your hair, yet allow you to wear lots of whites/ lights as you prefer. So if they do go on sale and you like the style/ fit, consider those as well!

I prefer brown and can see them with khaki and white -- with a big statement brown bag. Perhaps the shirt would be an oversized linen. I'm envisioning something very classically, chic, and a little european. But I'm a lover of all things neutral. If you are a color lover, that would change things completely.

What do you need? Can you add an orange pair and get enough outfits with them, say at least 3?

If so, buy them. Your heart loves them. If you can work them into your wardrobe, you will wear them
