Earlier this year my husband and I were appointed leaders of a monthly ceremony at our mosque. This has meant lots of things- connecting with the community, attending mosque more, coordinating and event planning - and also dressing up more.
I haven’t worn saris in years, but I decided to start pulling them out for this monthly festival. Some of them are from my wedding trousseau, some have been bought over the years, and some thrifted. But I love wearing them- the feel of the fabric and the intricate designs make me feel as though I’m wearing a piece of art. My mum and I spend hours trying them on and deciding on the right one over multiple cups of tea
