Your opinions on these clutch handbags;)

Hi Ladies,

It may appear I have been on a bit of shopping spree:) but I have been selling off some clothes I no longer wear to make room (and raise funds) for purchasing some things I really want... yay for Ebay.

One of things I have been wanting for some time is a fold over clutch. Something a little slouchy but with a touch of structure. I think I may have found it.

It's available in black, and also black and white. The advantage of the black and white is depending on which side you fold it over, you get two different looks.

Could I ask your thoughts on which might be best?

Measurements are 12 inches by 7inches when folded or 13 inches when open. It is asymetric when folded.

#1 is the black

#2 is the black and white with the fold to the white

#3 same bag as #2 but folded to the black.

#4 Textured black

I love the simplicity of these bags. I personally would probably opt for just the plain black but I guess I'd ask you the following questions:

1. how often do you anticipate carrying the bag?
2. how versatile do you need it to be?

The reason I ask is I find white leather gets dingy and dirty very easily -and it's not always easy to get it cleaned even with professional cleaning (so the cost per wear factor goes up because of the cost of having it cleaned). So if you're going to carry it a lot you might be better off with black, which will hide day to day dirt --especially on a clutch that you're likely to be laying down on what might turn out to be less than clean surfaces. Also, does the two-tone combo limit what you'll feel comfortable wearing it with? Do you want it to be a workhorse or just an occasional carry?

In the end both are fab. I just think the black will end up wearing better and allow you more styling options but the black and white would really add modern polish to your already amazing structured style.

Sorry that probably wasn't any help. It was just the process my brain went through to make the decision if it were me

Love! I had a black and cobalt one like this in the 80s and could slap myself for letting it go. I'm a fan of the two-toned version so you can get two looks out of one bag.

Oh yeah, I definitely vote for the new addition textured one. No dirt cleaning issues, really versatile and the texture just gives it a bit of extra "edginess." Love it!

Hee hee!, I just thought the textured one looked great to add interest to outfits that were sleeker and the B and W would be great for adding clean lines to a drapy look. Enabling, who me??

My own vote's for one of the two plain black ones, for leopardluxe's eminently practical reasons: white leather is so fresh and so beautiful, but only for about a minute.

Then again, it is likely that most people are less clumsy than I am. But for me, having a bag that I can put down carelessly is one of the factors that goes into my decision. (I bought the work purse that I did mostly because of the feet. They mean that I have to put it down on the bathroom floor, I'm not completely horrified.)

Love the textured black, but if you already have a textured black, the black and white would give a pop to many looks although you might have to baby it and use it more selectively.

I love the asymmetrical shape and gold zipper in these. I can't decide between the textured black one and the b/w one....

I vote the black and white. Most versatile, makes a nice graphic statement which is totally in tune with your style.

Since you seem to wear only black, I think the black and white would look best. It would have the most visual interest.

I vote B&W, with textured black as second choice, and plain black as last choice.

Clutches don't get as dirty, in my experience, because you are holding them, or you put them in your lap.

That said if you have any black clothes that bleed, you don't want a white clutch. When in Hong Kong I wore a black dress I got from LOFT; we got caught in a downpour, and it bled all over my white bag, turned it blue. My quick-thinking, resourceful DH doused it with hairspray which lifted much of the blue, but not all. When we got back, I took it to the cobbler and he was able to rescue it enough for another season's use, but it still never quite was the same, especially the handles.

I love the black and white AND the textured black (or also in white if available that, too). I have 2 fold over clutches(taupe and orange same model, with a big (detachable) fringe on one side), purchase in 2011, and love them for summer.

Personally, my favorite is the black and white... But I am all the way in Diane's enabling camp... Both the b/w and textured one.

The black seems like the practical choice but my gut STRONGLY favors B&W. I haven't had trouble with dinginess. Then my white or cream bags haven't been clutches, either. The point about dye transfer is a good one so if you're planning on carrying it trapped between your ribs and your upper arm, you might run into trouble.

I like the textured black, but I don't wonder if the straight black would work better for you. I actually think the black/white has too much going on because you have so many striking, architectural clothing items.
