This is when it's good to be "Madame Jewel Tone." I've chosen red, burgundy and deepest purple for my capsule. Purple is a liturgical color for Advent. You may remember that last year, I discovered that my new church, the first "high" church I've attended since childhood, had navy blue in their vestments and banners. The horror! Apparently, those practical midwestern Lutherans have declared that navy is an allowable substitute for tradition Advent purple.
I simply cannot allow it! I do capitulate in one ouftit, however. I wear think the navy, black and cream that was sent to me all the way from Kiwi land for last year's Secret Santa is a neutral-loving take on the holiday (see below).
For sparkle, I purchased a couple more pairs of sparkly earrings -- not big, but festive, to add to my tinsel-inspired long necklaces, which get more wear this time of year.
Even with all my holiday finery, the richness of color cannot compare to Indian celebrations! I do love me a hot pink saree!
