Your favourite white t shirt please.

Hello Ladies, I hope this topic has not been covered recently. I am looking for your help with finding good quality, white v-neck t shirts. I don’t mind what fabric content or price range. I am not a T-shirt wearer in the summer as I am very pear shaped and have found it difficult to find a T-shirt that fits my shoulders and not pull around the tummy area. So with that in mind I prefer tunic style tops in the summer. However in the autumn and winter I enjoy wearing them with pants and denim/cargo jackets. I buy a larger size to accommodate my tummy as the shoulders do not show. I have heard good things about Universal Standard t shirts so if anyone has tried them I would love to hear your opinion. I am a size 12/14. Thank you.

Universal Standard. That's a Target brand? Not a tee shirt, but I bought embroidered faded blue jeans in that brand and they have been great. They wash and hang to dry and turn out soft and smooth. No bagging out but good stretch. I would try the brand again.

Thanks Joy, I am not aware of them selling that brand at Target. I shall investigate. I have heard of a brand that I imagine is mostly an online store as it has showrooms in New York and Seattle only. I believe J Crew has a collaboration with them at the moment. They have a program that is called fit liberty where you are free to exchange items if they no longer fit., but I have not yet read the small print.

Joy-I think you are thinking of universal threads, which is IMO a great target brand. And worth looking at tees.
my favorite white vneck is from uniqlo, they do cut slim though so you may need to experiment with sizing.

A couple places to look:

Boden - high quality knit. Good fit, but more classic not very flowy.
WHBM - light weight, good drape, often has a little extra detail on at the neck
Brooks Brothers - pricey, but when they are on sale it's more reasonable, and they last forever.

I have had great success with Banaba Republic's white tees in a variety of fabrics. I tend to wear them under sweaters for some white at the collar (near my face) or just as a liner. I buy one or two every year.

I also like Uniqlo for short sleeved tees, the U crew neck is a good robust knit, not too thin.

My favourite white tee is from H&M and was purchased in January together with a navy tee with white polkadots. Very soft and comfortable cotton. Mine is a round neck tee, but often, there seems to be many more V-necks than round necks available, both at H&M and other places. H&M generally has quite a collection of tees at very reasonable prices. I still have three tees (in other colours) that I bought there 7 or 8 years ago--they have been washed countless times and still look and feel like new.

Eileen Fisher makes a linen one with a V neck. It’s not inexpensive, but I love the fit and quality.

Universal standard’s quality is excellent, as it their fit for curvy figures. Their tees have a flattering curved hemline, I have a few in my closet. Tighter ones and one size up, so a bit looser. I’m a 12 up top and usually get a s for a bit looser fit.

I second the Uniqlo recommendation (which I discovered here in this forum). The cotton tees are so soft, substantial, and look a bit more put-together than the usual. I like their 3/4 sleeve tees. On me they are true to size, even though other Uniqlo items run small, so yes, you need to experiment.

The one thing is they say only to line dry the tees (not tumble/machine). It is less convenient than most cotton tees but maybe that's what keeps them in good shape.

My favorite tee is from BR, a long time ago. I don't know if they make them as well now.

I have a few from Caslon and Halogen (Nordstrom brands), but they are crew neck. I'm not sure they make a V-neck version.

My favourite tees are from Three Dots. They have lots of styles and colours. I bought some from Amazon a couple of years ago.
I also have 2 tees from Caslon (Nordstrom). The fabric is much thinner but very soft.

I have heard good things about Everlane tees.

... Feel the need to add that I never tumbledry my tees. This may be part of the reason why they look and feel so good even after several years.

I really like Madewell whisper cotton T's. They fit and wash well and at under $20.00 are easily replaced as needed.
