.... You are in a public restoom and you carefully spread the toilet seat cover out on the TP dispenser to rest your leather clutch on, only to discover that you forgot to put one on the toilet seat before you sat down. True story. I just walked out of said restroom with a very clean green leather clutch!

I'm not seeing an issue with your actions at all. What does that say about me lol! Having lunch the other day with a friend I had to have a spare chair at the table for my bag!! It was not going to sit on the floor;)

I am a total clean freak in public bathrooms and don't like to use them at all, but when called to do so, I open the door with a hand towel and place another hand towel on the hook so my pretty purse handles will not be sullied in any way.

I LOVE your handbag and it deserves this very special treatment. Keep it up, but next time take care of yourself, too!

Pil- yes, this is the clutch my boss brought back from Italy, from the original store where this brand was made MANY years ago. Good memory!

Michelle- I love that Reva helps in so many unexpected ways! I somehow suspect she would have even reminded you to put the paper on the seat since she was taking care of the handbag!

Vicki- I like how you think! I'm also quite sure that you would never have forgotten to paper the seat!

I have to say, I was laughing to myself on my way out of the restroom and knew right away that you all were the ones who would appreciate this story most!

That's really funny but believable. In honesty, it isn't just clutches. I find handbags to be equally tricky (and bulky) if there are no hooks in the bathroom, or a door latch you can hang your bag from. I clutch it and perch on the pot rather uncomfortable....but I'll die before I put my bag on the floor!

I also almost always ask for a 3 seater at restaurant - a seat for my bag----unless they give individual bag racks to people who are weary of putting down there handbag and are carrying shopping bags too.

Oh Maneera, I have totally done the clutch the bag between my legs and chest while awkwardly perched thing! This time I was so relieved to find BOTH a reasonably sized resting place AND a paper protector that It wasn't until the cold toilet seat hit my behind that the irony hit me. I actually laughed outloud in that little stall!

I'm just jealous that you have toilet seat covers in public restrooms. It's a rare thing in Australia.

My mother taught me how to carefully lay toilet paper over the seat in public toilets but I don't do it so much anymore. It's awful when you sit down and the seat is still warm.....

CocoC - it is hit and miss here whether the paper protectors are present. More often than not, the holders are hanging on the wall, but there are no papers (which is just sad). This time I got so happy that I could cover the ledge and the toilet that I got all flustered and forgot what I was doing! Truth be told, though, even without the paper, this was a WAY cleaner environment than I've had to use many a time before... It is rather shocking how many weird restroom stories I could tell!

Someone once told me that men's restrooms are often cleaner than women's. That's a scary thought!
