... someone offers to pay you to take them shopping! I really like the woman who brought this up, so I said I'd be happy to do it just for fun (as in, I won't be taking money to shop with her), but the offer tickled me so that I had to share it with you guys.

Have any of you experienced similar reactions since joining YLF?

I get offers to be paid to go shopping very frequently. Or friends who want to meet at the mall and go shopping instead of over dinner and drinks. And my favorite is a gay male friend who wants to steal all my clothes - he loves the bright colors I wear.

I have no outside influences to tell me it's working because I have no friends or acquaintances here. I'm living in a city that's not my home and off work until we move back. But *I* know it's working for me when I freely purge, to donate, old favorites that just aren't up to snuff anymore and I more often that not leave the 'too good to be true' sale item behind, unless it fills a hole I'm actively looking for. No more orphans and almosts!!

I have really been feeling the YLF magic lately. A few random things:

1). My boyfriend has been giving me compliments on my outfits left and right lately, and this is coming from someone who cares less about clothes and fashion than anyone else I know.

2). I went to New York for work recently, and was a bit intimidated beforehand that my outfits wouldn't measure up. But, while there, I was stopped on the street and complimented multiple times, and had one native New Yorker absolutely refuse to believe that I had bought everything I was wearing in Salt Lake City.

A coworker mentioned my cognac boots just last week, saying that she loved them and only I could "pull them off." I'm still not sure what she means as they're not exactly outre, but I'm taking it for what it's worth.

Friends at coffee commented today that I always look pulled together, even if I'm out doing yard work if they stopped by. The secret I've learned at YLF is that even yard clothes can fit well and be in a color that flatters.

My mother was always the queen of frump. I suggested to her that we go shopping. She agreed. Little did I know that underneath the dowdy attire was a stylish 77 year old waiting to be born! Her bridge friends are admiring her new looks. YLF has helped me help my mother, and that touches my heart.
