Ha! Am starting my own abbreviation here, YO: Your Opinion.

I have gotten some comments regarding poison-eye for boots with bare legs. However, they are a perfect solution for my summer temps, and allow me to use my boot wardrobe year round.

What's your feeling? When are you okay with bare legs and boots? Examples welcomed! Here are some of my inspirations, even not being a Sundance kind of gal:

I like boots with bare legs if they are light color and fabrication - or bright color. Yay from me!

I like it as long as the contrast is relatively low. Really for me that just means no black boots with bare legs. I rationalize that chocolate brown is even ok bc it bookends w my hair.

Love the look. Still kicking myself years later for not buying a pair of Jessica Simpson Rosanna leather cowboy boots. They would've been awesome with bare legs. I wore my natural colored Frye Cindy slouch boots with a dress when it was a bit cooler ... It seemed to work, but in the middle of summer they'll be too high. I say go for it!

You already know my answer... clearly, I could not care less about them being light colored... I guess my only requirement is that they flatter the legs, vague as that sounds.

I love the look, and I will occasionally indulge in it myself, even if I don't have the most fab legs. The main reason I don't more often is because we have such short transitional seasons here.

A yay from me in general, but as an over 40, with shorts becomes dicey I think. I take it on an outfit by outfit basis, really.

You know I adore the look. All kinds of boots, black, tan, tall, short, whatever but my favorites are the mid-calf ones.

Seriously. Skirt+bare legs+boots is my most favorite look in the whole world. I wish it was practical year round.

You can absolutely wear this look, and you're right that it fits your climate and environment. I don't think it works for everyone, but it definitely does for you!

For warmer weather, I prefer bare legs with boots that are shorter: mid calf or lower.

I think of bare-legged boots as transitional here too, as Jonesy said, but Spring lasts forever in the PNW.

I think this is a younger, trendier look so black tall traditional boots with bare legs would look weird to me. I think this look requires booties or an edgier type of boot than a classic boot.

It's something I don't partake in due to my climate. It feels either hot or cold here, not the long in-between transitional weather you can get in a coastal climate. When I lived in LA I wore combat or moto boots with a frayed midi or knee length skirt and wife beater, this was one of my signature looks back in the early 00s.

I love the look but I've never been able to pull it off well. If it's warm enough for bare legs, I'm going to sweat in my boots. Dripping calf sweat= icky.

just adding after reading the other comments that I like the way black boots look too on bare legs and am trying to be brave enough to carry that off myself. I am expecting a bit of skepticism to it though.

I like it with light boots like eveyrone said. It doesn't make sense in my city at all, so that when I see people sporting that look I cringe, but that's because when it is finally the time to wear shorts and skirts with bare legs, your feet need some airing. This is Spain, after all. I can see how you would find boots comfier than sandals if it's cold!

Love the look. My personal preference for myself is perforated, and/or lighter color neutral boots and booties for spring/summer outfits.

I love the look and have loved it since I first saw it in the 90's and am delighted it's remained in style this long. In fact, since there's always been a version of this floating around I'd say it's a pretty classic look.
