Y/N: Plaid Wedge Booties

Okay, I’ve been wanting to add some bohemian back to my wardrobe this fall. And also a bit more of stuff I love. One inspiration for this fall is tartan and what I call Modern Outlander: Outlander and Scottish but not costumey.

I found these wedge booties in shearling and tartan. I’m willing to gamble on thrift and see what happens. I already own point toe kitten heel boots and slouchy 70s boots.

Are the wedge booties too dated? Or are they a great addition for me??

Oh I think they’d be quite fun to have in your wardrobe, although I’d keep most everything else you’re wearing with them as a support act and let these cute booties be the star of the show.

Angie, oh yay!!! I admit I’m not 100% on comfort yet. They’re TOM brand and I haven’t worn those before. They are size 11 so I’m cautiously hopeful they’ll fit well.

Irina, YAY! I’m not sure how they would work with my new flare jeans? But I do think they will work with a lot of what I own. If they fit well. I’m always worried they won’t haha!

I love these. They remind me of a pair of tall "blanket" boots I had many years ago. And kind of wish I still did.

I'm always in favour of anything tartan. Go for it. And I'd love to see your modernized Outlander looks.

I have a pair of thrifted Tom's wedges and they are incredibly comfortable. The heel height looks the same as these. Despite the height, my arch can relax into them just as if I'm wearing flats

Cool to meet another size 11! In my experience, we size 11 girls will buy a pair of shoes if it fits, and only then ask if we need it/will wear it. Hence the surprising availability of size 11 shoes in second hand.

I think they could be really fun with your wardrobe. I do love plaid and tweed footwear although I haven’t owned any in years. I once had a pair of grey tweed oxfords and they were so cute! Something about that texture of fabric footwear always evokes cozy fall vibes for me.

L'Abeille, my modernized Outlander looks will take some time, but I will share for sure. I'm very happy to hear how comfortable Toms wedges are for you! Hopefully they will be comfy for me too. Lovely to meet another sz 11! I chuckle... I do find size 11 is more common now, but still not overflowing. So snap it up for sure ha! I actually do better in a 10W but that's much harder to find. 11s it is.

Definitely give them a go! I have found my own plaid boots to be a complete workhorse going on 8 years...they now need resoling and some fixing if I can find a good cobbler but I love them so much I don't want to give them up!

And far from making them only a support act, I have often played up the tartan with other tartan. I love over the top pattern mixes! What might not be super evident is that I am wearing triple or even quadruple tartan in these outfits! Very Outlander indeed.

Carol, thank you! Yes, thrifted via Poshmark! I'm excited about them. Not tooooo excited in case they somehow aren't comfy or don't fit. (Don't want to get my hopes dashed haha.) Anyway, hoping they arrive soonish.
