YLF Secret Santa 2015!! - YouLookFab Forum

It is that time....

I have volunteered to run this fun game this year, and hope to live up to Ornella’s high standards. All active members are welcome to join in, read on for some starting details. There may be glitches but I will do my very best to make sure Santa’s gifts get delivered on time!!

What is YLF Secret Santa?

- random pairs of YLFers will be selected, after which each member gets the postal address of *only* her pair, for whom the gift should be prepared and posted on time. Simple!

What next?

In two days I'll open a separate thread with the instructions how to join the game -please wait for that thread

In the meantime, make sure you have active Elfster account you can access - some of you have it already, some will need to register. The address is http://www.elfster.com

YLFs audience is global, therefore take some time to think whether you want to to post abroad as the overseas postage can be steep. Last year we had two groups of participants - posting to US-only or globally.

Please help keep this thread bumped to the first page so everyone has a chance to read and consider if they want to join in!

Sally, I am so grateful to you for doing this!! A million thanks. For any newcomers, Secret Santa is not obligatory at all, but it's a super fun YLF tradition. In my opinion, it works best with those who post on the forum quite regularly, but a person doesn't have to post photos to be a good candidate. As long as we can tell something about you from your comments, Santa can do her job.

I'm so excited that this tradition is continuing. For those of you who don't post photos it is more difficult to select accessories, but that doesn't mean santa can't pick out a memorable tchotke, yummy food, or papering beauty products.

Sally are we doing a $ limit this year?

Elly, yes I will add one in to make it easier, I have read through most of the information from last year but will finalise details tonight (I have had a mini break away at the beach and been mostly offline!)

I'm on the fence. It takes me a long time to decide things.

I'm pleased there will be a few of us. I will start the new thread this week, to give everyone plenty of time to sign up and decide if it is for them. There is no pressure to join in if it does not suit!

It was fun last year and it was amazing how clever people were at choosing things for people on the forum whom they had never met in person!

Oh, this sounds super duper exciting!!!

I'd love to play! My only concern is that for me it'll mean shipping everything internationally! That may not actually be a problem....but most Fabbers use the postal system for shipping. And the Indian postal system is so so terrible, nothing ever reaches anywhere on time and without damage! We use courier services for almost everything. But I am going to find out if we have something called First Class Mail or anything special for International Mail. I'm very very keen to join in! Thanks Sally!

What a fantastic tradition and one more indicator of YLF community spirit. I'm going to ponder this, Sally, and will watch for more info with interest. I'd love to join but truth be told gift giving stresses me out as I really struggle with getting it 'right'.

I'm planning to join this year, after lurking silently on the forum during a few previous iterations. I don't post a ton but I do make extensive use of Finds and Collections, so hopefully my Santa can get a sense of 'me' from there.
