LOL, Ornella! I guess I saw drapiness and the colors and thought of my dress. My hair isn't long enough for low buns with the layers.
I LOVE Star Wars and the interpretations here are KILLER to the power of KILLER! WOW!! You all blew it out of the ball park!

Caro, you get the special Jedi Knight Award. KILLER ROCKING AMAZING!!!

What I love is if you start typing "Han Solo" into google, "Han Solo pants stripe" comes up. That is some serious mass geeking out...

So I wanted to do Marion Ravenwood yesterday but my hats are in storage! I may pull that one off yet, or something Indy. Today I wanted to do Princess Leia... but I do not have anything I can wear to work that is Leia. Thought about 3P0 and R2... realized what I pretty much have in my closet is Han Solo. Only later thought about Luke and now thinking I could have done Chewy, except it's gonna be a hot day. Lol.

Was wearing a fake-hair braid headband, but it was making my hair look too messy for work.

Ok, but OMG! Star Wars fan heaven! I used to have a manager who confessed she kissed a bubble-gum card of Han Solo before she went to bed every night when she was 10...

UNA - You are cute as a button! Prepare to have geeks following you like puppy dogs.
ORNELLA - Darth Vader, and Darth Maul too, coming in clear and fashionable!
JULIEJOHN - Why didn't I think Aunt Beru, Tatooine and browns?
DIANA - Perfect Star Wars blues! And again, why didn't I think Tatooine garb? I am jealous that your hair is long enough to do Leia buns. I'm working on growing it out! Too soon!
MARYK - The colour extrapolation is amazing. Positively amazing! And it's got a little bit of Tunis in there (filming location for Tatooine).
TANYA - To die for! Just brilliant.
ASTRID - More perfect colours! The handkerchief point sweater says Star Wars, I've totally concluded that.
DAYVIES - Love that you did 3P0. I was at a loss in my own closet. Except for my copper metallic shoes... just all wrong.
SARAHA - The blue and silver is inspired. R2, definitely R2.
JOY - Gak. Brilliant!
SONA - It's the blues with the metallic shoes and the birds on your bomber. Very Lucas the combination of influences.
CEIT - Hello obi belt, Han colors, and light saber pose!
SUZ - So simple and evocative. "Spacey" all the way. I need a mesh sweater...
JJ - I wanted a vest this morning so bad I can't tell you, but I didn't have time to dig... You so win
SHEVIA - No, you've got it going girl
CARO - OMG!! Courreges & lagenlook!!! Dead on.
LYN - I feel it the greys. Very Empire
INGUNN - Aaa! The blue! The blue. Awesome.
TRACEY - Your top is perfect... and I need it for my Marion Ravenwood...

This was a hard one for me. I dont own a lot of drapy or white. My first thought was DV, but I really wanted to wear this buttondown. So I ended up with Hans with a touch of Luke thrown in.
Shirt- Love on a Hanger pattern reminds me a little of sky
Vest- Bebe
Pants- Rude
Belt- Hipwear
Booties- Mix #6
I dont think I'd wear this together. I like all the pieces separately.

Rachy, I dig your stripe! Rae also has some confederate-looking pants, I wonder if we'll be seeing them today.

Can't wait to see your take on Marion. She goes from tomboy to vixen so effortlessly.
Here is the star wars look, all white it had to be. I had to use an old picture but I love this outfit. One of my FFBO. Tomorrow is going to be much more difficult for me!

I loved the looks, of course the all whites appeal here but loving the use of the colors from the posters too! Cobalt is gorgeous on you gals.

And thanks for sharing pics of young Hans....delish!

I so very much wanted to wear galaxy print for today's movie poster. And shiny silver shoes - totally sci fi, right? But I had neither, and no time to DIY it. Still, it's on the list - I will create something galaxy print SOON. And paint some shoes - also soon.

Instead, I decided to go with blue and white. While assembling the pieces, I came across this polka-dot top, and thought "well, that's blue with white dots. It's practically galaxy, right?" So it got worn.

My fingernails (though you can't see them) are silvery sparkly.

Ha, Rachy, you know I am counting the days until I can chop the hair off, right? Seriously, it's driving me crazy. This kind of messy bun (or a messy twist) with a claw clip is the only way I can wear it up without getting a headache.
Lol. That is hilarious. We shall pass each other by going opposite ways on the hair.

It's been long enough that I've forgotten the back pain. My hair is incredibly heavy when it's long. But I want to do wrap-around braids just one more time before I get too old and tired to carry the weight of my hair...
I had to fight the 'force' of the wind to get pictures again today. The first pic I had to hang on becaus a gust came up. I went with the colors in the poster and my shiney loafers then added my swing jacket. I looks cape like tio me.

I am loving all of the interpretations again, today. This is such a fun group if people!

I will just post and run but will be back.
My inspiration was Hans Solo. As I was trying to emulate his outfit I found out that I was in no mood for tall boots , so I consider this outfit more of a 'Daughter of Hans Solo' and if I think about it not even the legitimate kind with princess Leia.
This is too much the attitude of ' It doesn't seem much but it gets the job done , baby' to have any jedi influences.

I will be back soon, till then may the force be with you.

Here's my outfit for todays theme. I went for a blue and white look like Amiable.
Every item is new and I thought it was too good an oportunity to miss to give them all a try.
Can I just say that everyone looks fantastic today I've been glued to the forum reading, on and off all afternoon. Thanks for organising it all Ornella.

Tribute to C3P0, with a little Luke and Leia thrown in.
Goldish jeans, gold la mer watch, drapey silk blouse (Olsen Europe)
Pic 3 - is it Jabba the Hutt? No, just a close up of my knee to show the golden hue of the jeans.

I am feeling jealous of all the lightsaber action here.
Here is my Jedi best:
white wrap top over flowy linen pants
green boots

No side buns for me, although I definitely wore them for Halloween 1977.

Wow, your interpretations are super cool. I feel like I am being very unimaginative and literal.:) The picture is taken at the end of a very long day, so excuse my rumpled appearance. This is also the first time I am wearing skinny jeans tucked into knee high boots this whole winter.:) Leave it to the YLF challenge to remind me of my old favorites. I was inspired by the colors in the picture. My office was very warm today, I mostly went sans jacket.

I'm enjoying this thread immensely. You are all true creative spirits, fun and fabulous. Thank you for making this day shine!
Once again I will post text while it's easy and pics when it's possible.

All I saw in the poster was the white of Luke and Leia so that is what I aspired to. (Although seeing Ornella's pic I realized I do Darth Vader every other day of my life)

White linen tunic, belted low with a wide black almost military-looking belt, over stone coloured Dockers-style pants (stretching the borders of casual for work, when it isn't summer). Tan oxfords for roaming the deserts of Tatooine. And my navy pashmina-sized scarf with 2 sizes of white dots, to evoke the stars of A Galaxy Far Far Away. Oh and like Diana, a single twirly bun on the back of my head, although I piled on the gel to keep it from being the messy that is my default.

I actually got a compliment from a patient today--someone whose casual boho chic I've always admired, so I even told her about this challenge!

While this looks and feels more like the "Land of Milk and Honey" rather than another galaxy, it is fun and I jumped into a white AT tee, white stretch skinnies, an old cream sleeveless shirtdress, and added a gold belt and gold sandals. Where's a lightsabre when you need one?

More white on white, in my Star Wars inspired outfit. . . .
I decided on the tunic and jeans, and I was going to belt it, but I needed a jacket, and I didn't like the jacket with the belted version. I added the jewelry to go with the outfit, not out of any SW inspiration.

White layered crinkle-knit tunic (Comfy USA),
white jeans (Not Your Daughter's Jeans),
hemp hooded jacket (Layers Squared),
metallic sling-back Mary Janes (Fidji),
mixed-metal jewelry (Marjorie Baer).

This is so NOT my usual palette, and I got two compliments!

For this one, I decided to go with my inner Darth Vador. Fall/winter 2011/2012 I was all over maxi skirts - this past fall/winter season, I haven't worn them once (until today). I saw this Jessica Quirk look a few weeks back and have been wanting to copy it, so today was the day (two inspirations in one outfit!).

Pic #1 - with the ballet flats I wore to work
Pics #2 and #3 - with the Converse I am wearing tonight to go visit my M-I-L who is just back from FL
Pic #4 - Over the weekend, someone (sorry I don't remember who) posted pics of wearing old pins on your denim jacket pockets - these were my mother's old pins, I think from when she was a Girl Scout. I thought they went with the whole "Star Wars" theme (shield, crown, some type of cross).
Pic #5 - Jessica Quirk's recent maxi skirt blog post

Karie, you look fabulous in that maxi skirt--I like the elegance of the ballet flats and the fun of the fancy sneaks!

Runcarla, great pattern mixing with the scarf and stripe tee; the scarf goes so nicely with all the other pieces. Your hair looks great, too!

Amiable, I HAVE a galaxy-print shirt (or what I think of as one; it's an abstract print that looks vaguely starry-sky-like to me), and thought about wearing it. But the whites leapt out as something I might try for a change.

DianeG, I love your outfit! You look terrific in those white jeans & the semi-tuck is so flattering, as is that lovely blue in the pullover and shoes.

Jayne, you look gorgeous in your FFBO of fresh whites and tan. I'm relieved to hear that's an older photo, because that would be a very quick change in weather from yesterday!

All this talk of Princess Leia's side buns--DH suggested that I attach muffins to the sides of my head. I declined!

I am loving all these creative and fab outfits! I would love a light saber!

The first outfit is what I planned for the challenge and actually wore out today to take DD to school and run some errands. I didn't have a galaxy print shirt or dress (bummer) so I went with this agate dress, which reminds me of the clouds and water on a planet surface, and the draping is similar to the flowy costumes they wear. The white jeans and denim jacket combined with and silver purse and sneakers are similar colors to Leia's outfit, and I had a little water gun blaster and my necklace which reminds me of the Death Star. This denim jacket with dress as tunic over jeans and sneakers was a very comfortable MOTG FFBO, I'll have to remember this formula!

The funny thing is I came back home and was talking to DH and he said he was sending back our Netflix DVDs. I asked if we could rent Metropolis and Vertigo. He was surprised and said, "Why are you interested in those films? Does this have something to do with fashion?" I told him about our movie poster challenge and said, "This is my Star Wars outfit". He asked if I had posted my pics already and then said it didn't look Star Wars enough and that I should wear a white sweater or top and that he would lend me his Nerf gun. So, DH made me change! Hilarious that DH got into the action--he is a bit of a Star Wars geek. I didn't have a white tunic or drapey sweater, so the beige turtleneck or the cream sweater were the next best options. Just for kicks I tried to make my hair into Princess Leia cinnamon buns, but I am awful at styling hair, so they look more like pretzels. LOL!

Which of these three outfits do you like best, and which looks the most "Star Wars"?
1-4. American Eagle white denim jacket
Michael Michael Kors agate dress
Kut Diana white skinny jeans
Skechers grey wedge sneakers
Michael Kors pewter studded satchel
Alexis Bittar orange leopard pendant
5. INC beige turtleneck and Michael Kors snakeskin belt and gunmetal "starry sky" stretch bracelet
6. Gap ivory dolman sweater
7-8. Princess Leia/Star Wars inspiration

As a huge Star Wars fan, the rich blues and blacks punctuated by crisp white were the first details to draw my eye in the star wars poster! I was inspired by both the colors and the rebellious themes of the movie, the contrasts of good against evil, light against dark.

my Tiger Galaxy t-shirt seemed to be the perfect place to start! I paired it with metallic black jeans, as a reference to the sci-fi aspect, and to add a little toughness. The boots were inspired by Luke's boots, only in black leather for a little darkness.

The ivory leather jacket was inspired by the lightness of the clothing Luke & Lea are wearing, as well as the title text. I have only wore this jacket once before, so it was fun to see it (and its a big change from the darker leather I usually wear)

This is so much fun. I am absolutely loving the interpretations here!

Rebekah, you really do look as if you've come from another galaxy! Your hair is perfect for this outfit, too.

GP, think how things have changed. Instead of complaining about YLF, hubs is getting into the act and encouraging you!!

Karie, love your inspiration and your execution - very cool!

Firecracker, no wonder you got compliments. So deserved.

Carla, you look brilliant in cobalt.

Vicki, we were on the same wavelength!

Diane, you look sensational in those white jeans and your blues. And your son is adorable.

Bella, you are beautiful. Full stop.

Fern, so great to see you post! I LOVE you in white.

Nicole, amazing jeans and gorgeous outfit.

Celia, you are lovely in this. And funny. Some days we do what we can do and no more in the costume department!!

Ami - your spirit would win the war against any dark force.

Deb, you are stunning in cobalt!!!!!

Jayne -- inspiration twin!! Love you in this outfit. No wonder it's a fall back for you. Happiness factor -- through the roof.

Shedev, you make a fabulous Han Solo.

Rachy -- you, too!! Love the pants.

Ceit, this is no fair. Way too easy for you!!! Awesome boots into jeans look.

Sona, I thought yesterday's was inspired but today's is just downright beautiful.

Joy, we are fighting on the side of right together! You look amazing in whites.

Sarah, I love this outfit. You look fantastic in the blue and the sandals are perfect, too.

Day Vies -- such elegance. I adore this colour combo.

Astrid, you look well-cloaked and ready.

Tanya, so beautiful in white on white.

Mary, I love the freshness of this look!! I would not confine it to Star Wars days.

Diana, your hair!! Amazing.

Ornella, you are doing this out of a SUITCASE??? (Faints, wearing fuchsia crash helmet.)

And Una…Una….What can one say except Happy Birthday UWP!!!!

These are so much fun I can't stand it. I agree with Angie that Caro looks like she stepped right out of a Jedi Council meeting... but everyone is fab and obviously this movie resonates with a lot of YLFers!
Such fun looks today! They are quite diversified in style and feel, though a fairly cohesive color story across the lot. I'm also enjoying hearing about all the movie-going stories (this movie came out before my time, but it's been clear to me over the years just how big of an impact it had on so many). Firecracker, I am especially loving seeing you in a white-out look!

Here's my outfit. The most iconic thing about this poster to me is the title lettering (hey, I do work in type!); beyond that, the star field makes a big impression of the poster art. So I wanted today's outfit to be tribute to those two key elements. Details in my WIW post for the day
