YLF Picture Perfect Challenge - Day 3

Thank you for your wonderful contributions so far. We are almost halfway through.
Today's inspiration is

Waterserpents II, Gustav Klimt, 1907

The picture depicts a group of water nymphs, a common mythological subject. But it is also considered to be a precursor to Klimt's paints, such as The Women Friends, 1917 in which the same-sex relationships are more openly portrayed by the artist. The last time we had this challenge, we had The Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I, a portrait from Klimt's gold period.

As I said in ‘day 2’, I had to switch some things around: my Klimt idea was better suited for a day at the office (so yesterday) than the Gauguin look I’m really wearing today. It’s only cheating a bit, no?
The trouble with the Klimt is it’s romantic, pale and shimmery – and none of those are really present in my winter wardrobe. In the end I chose this dress because of the dainty print and I paired it with my blush coatigan to add vertical lines and softness. I wanted to wear a metallic blush scarf with it but it’s in storage for the season … I feel like I could have gotten closer to the vibe of the painting in spring or summer, wearing this same dress with bare legs, white footwear and said lightweight blush scarf (or pearls). I liked the end result enough though.

I’m thinking along the lines of Liesbeth with this one. Although not a floral, the paisley print of this dress has a similar feel, and to me, the paisley shape has a sinuous essence similar to the women’s bodies. (How’s that for artsy fartsy? ) The white jeans under is a nod to the luminescent skin of the nymphs.

Creamy outfit to mimic the creamy nudes, with floating pink scarf to pick up the stream of colors separating the 2 women.

I love the sensuality and colors of this one, but realized that my wardrobe has very few romantic elements. Decided to use the pink jacket to reflect some of the color, with the white buttons echoing the round shapes/bubbles scattered throughout. And some shine from the skirt, and nude-for-me hosiery for the creaminess of the nymphs’ skin. My Danskos are shiny with a swirly pattern. I’m wearing them to walk my younger DS to school and for my commute, though they do fit with colors and feel of the painting, so I might not change my shoes at work.

I love seeing everyone’s interpretations!

My favourite painting of this series, so glad it made the list. I am lucky to have Southern Hemisphere summer weather to do this challenge. I am enjoying the different interpretations so much.

I wore a floral halter neck top, tied at the waist with wide leg white pants. Both pieces are very soft and fluid, so when I walk there is a sense of motion in the fabric. I enjoyed wearing this today and wafting around.

The pants are new and I recently got them hemmed, hopefully I got the length right.

At first I was stumped! I've already done a column of white this week (using my only winter-worthy white bottoms) and I'm certainly nott copying the nudity, plus I don't have any of those colours.

So I settled for ditzy floral in a dress, and a long drink of white in the sweater overtop.

Used my ink blue leopard pants to capture the textural elements and busy dots, the pearl grey drapey sweater for the smooth-skinned nudes, and then added as many rosy-pale elements as I could find: blush cap, lilac circle bag, rose quartz pendant. Remembered to snap indoor and outdoor versions today.

This was my favorite of the paintings this week, and the one I was most excited about. I really like the outfit I came up with.

I chose a ditsy floral, fluid top with gold and pink tones on a black background to represent the small, circular floral patterns and organic lines. I'm also wearing my black daisy ring, which recalls the millefiori-esque pattern, and a wavy silver ring for the snake/water connotations. Blush moto and light grey jeans for the light portions of the painting, black booties to bookend a little and echo the black areas at the edges. A long multi-strand chain necklace in gold, black, and purple for the gold strands running throughout the painting.

Last photo is an alternative combination that I considered but ultimately decided not to wear.

The colors of this painting are not in my closet so I am wearing pieces that keep to the feeling. Feminine dressing is not my style but My outfit is one of the most feminine in my closet and I wear it all of the time. Maybe I need to ponder this more. Hmmm..... Anyway, the ditsy floral tunic and velvet and pearl shoes resemble the small flowers and white spots in the painting.

Here's today's effort. I chose the silky purple shirt and wore it untucked for a more fluid feel, adding the scarf both for the colours, the drape, and the paisley pattern. The boots are a nod to the "serpent" idea. It is cold today so I had to bundle up to go outside! Wore a hat, too...

Oh, you're all killing it, ladies, -loved to see all your interpretations from the days before, too- BUT I miss Angie's-is she not in?
I am late as by us is Thursday already, but I put together my outfit for the "Watersepents" in the morning, and then- didn't have the time to post it:-(, so here it is, now.
I depicted mostly the nudity and the serpents here.
I portraid all the nudity with my own tans (a cream pencil skirt) and my own nudity (tan sheers:-)) which both are seldom worn only as find them too precious for my practical life.
Then I remembered a H&M blouse from last year which has a swirly print that can do quite well for the seprents (not waterseprents...rather earthy ones, but you get them, right?).
The jacket on top is a blush or vintage rose jersey blazer- loved that shade on the art, too.Then, for the finishing touches, I have used a triangle swirl pendant on my silver chocker (for a more subtle interpretation of the serpents, again) and my favorite wire and leather brooche of a long haired lady on the lapel of my jacket to emphasize all the feminine swirly locks in the art(hairy serpents this time:-).

The cherry on top is a red lip for subtle sensuality which is also very rare for me...and the lillac nails I have this week (Avon, Flying-but pictie is from the internet).

Wow, I did have fun with this for sure, and...felt very feminine all day!

Here is mine. A little late to the party, and the picture is quite awful. The shirt is actually pink leopard print. But the shape is quite romantic, with puffy shoulders, puffy sleeves, dainty double buttons and a bow.so it was the first thing that came to my mind for today's challenge.

Wow, Lyn, Bella, Shevia -- all gorgeous! Shevia, that shirt and shoes are brilliant. Bella, that shirt is so glam and fits right in with Shevia's 70s theme. And Lyn, you look stunning in those light neutrals. So elegant.

I am a day behind so here is my take on this challenge painting. I went mostly with colors and a few other details. The base is white, EF bone crepe pants and bone cotton pullover top. Topper is a Halogen pink long cardi. I layered on scarves, pink with a floral print, navy with white polkadots and pale blue floral and gold jewelry and long string of metallic pearls. I used round shapes when I could. Shoes are white flats but I may change to silver or gold metallic loafers for more warmth. Not shown are my small bag which is silver with gold hardware and gold chain crossbody and larger bag, also silver with gold details. This outfit feels flowy.

So when I saw this, I focused on the olive and white colors, the floral, shimmers of metallic, and the flow of the lines.
I had items for the colors and florals. My earrings shape and my hair pinned to the side for the curvature lines. Accessories for the metallic shine.
I liked this outfit and would not have thought of putting the kimono with this olive dress if it were not for this challenge. Thanks for the inspiration!
