YLF meeting UK???

I am planning my annual summer trip to London and Scotland. The dates are : London August 7-12th and Scotland the next week. Maybe a possible gathering? We had a great time last year. Julie- are you around for another meet up in Edinburgh?

London is only a 2 hour train journey from home and the week Jean is in Scotland we are on holiday in Carlisle and Edinburgh is only 2 hours from there x

Can't see why not. My BF and brother are walking Hadrian's wall so I may have to convince them that we NEED a day in edinburgh and then send them off sightseeing x

Re the London meet if we could perhaps do Monday 8th or Thursday 11th I'm looking at hotel prices and it would be cheaper for me to drive to Watford and stay overnight and catch the train from there rather than get the train from Birmingham? x

ETA I'm then not limited to a set time to leave London as it's only a local journey meaning no restriction on travel time x

2nd ETA- Monday as a preference as a Thursday meet would mean me travelling home on the Friday and we're going on holiday the day after none of this I'm suggesting is set in stone and I can always travel up on the day if none of these suggestions are convinient for others x

3rd ETA Sunday 7th would a cheap one for me too x

Oh, don't know if I would be invited - I live on the outskirts of London (20 minutes to the centre from my house), but I will be with the kids as it's during the school summer holidays, so it's a no from me

I was sad to have missed a YLF meet-up so close to me last year, so I'm determined to attend this one! For me London would be easiest, all the dates mentioned work for me. I'm so looking forward to finally meeting you all irl!

Oh, now this is exciting! I am not sure about dates yet because my husband needs to schedule theater times and I do need to do some teaching. We will not know for a bit when the open times are for me. I will keep you posted.

I may be able to arrange something (my younger son is 16 and can occupy himself, it's my elder son who has a learning disability - I can't leave him). I will watch out for dates then see what I can do!

YEAH, I was waiting and hoping that you were making this trip again. It was a lot of fun last year!

Very keen for the London meet up and since I am currently a SAHM I can easily do a day during the week. I will have to bring Vanessa a long with me, but she is generally a happy little camper.

I am wondering if the Westfield Mall in Shepherds Bush might be a suitable venue? If Lou is coming in from Watford the Overland runs directly to it. It is easily accessible from more central London on the Central line and is a good location if the weather doesn't come to the party. It also has a good baby/changing room (my new shopping concern!)

Would love to be able to jump on a train up to Scotland too!

ETA I'd probably just drive straight down it's only 1 hr 40ish mins in the car and there is parking on site. Does it come under the congestion charge area? x

Yay, more room for shopping in a car!

Shepherd's Bush isn't in the congestion charging zone, from memory you can just drive off the motorway.

Thanks for the congestion charge info Fi. Yes the RAC routefinder route looked to go M40, A40 pretty much straight there, and yes definately more room for shopping x

Yes, it is tube accessible. The Central Line (the red one on the tube map) runs straight there.

There are lots of fantastic plays on this year in London - very jealous!

Oh no Polly. We can always arrange another one later in the year, especially if this shopping mall is as easy to get to as it looks on the routefinder I'd be happy to pop down again later in the year, Ornela and Aunty might be able to do later in the year too x
