ylf-inspired Christmas gifts - input needed

Hello all! Season's Greetings! It seems like it's been forever since I've been on the forum. I've had so much to do, including knitting a gift for one of my friends. You can't really tell in these pictures, but I used some old clipon earrings to add a bit of razzle dazzle. I think the scale may not be right. Thoughts? I may try to look for a flower (I don't think I can make one) like the one on the UO earwarmer.

Either way, I love the look and think I'll be whipping one up for myself, too.

As for my own Christmas gifts, I did get the Pocket Stylist. I'm having fun reading it and am hoping that I'll be able to put the stuff I learn from ylf and the book to good use in the stores soon.

Wow!! That is sooo cute!! I love it.

I love the clip-ons and the scale looks great to me. I don't knit but my kids and my mom do; I am guessing you are a master knitter? Your work seems very intricate and difficult to me!

Thank you for the compliment, shiny! I'm not a master knitter. I had never done a lace pattern before but I had an idea of how I wanted this to look and I definitely wanted a lace look. So I found a lace pattern in a book that I thought would be the appropriate width for the band and then I just went for it. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out exactly what I was supposed to be doing and pulled the work out more than a few times before I got the hang of it. But once I figured it out, it was pretty smooth sailing.

Thank you, everyone. I haven't given it to my friend yet as she's been out of town visiting family. I'll let you know what she thinks. But I think I'll just leave the earrings on and forgo a look around for a flower. Thanks for the input.

Susan, I can get you the pattern if you like and some tips that I learned in my trial and error. Let me know.

An update on the gift. I gave the earwarmer to my girlfriend. She loves it. She wore it yesterday and reported back that she was getting LOTS of compliments. We have a very hipster craft fair here and some folks have suggested I make more and sell them there. I doubt I will do that as I don't know when I would have the time, but it is such a nice to know that my work was not in vain and is appreciated.

Alecia-Thanks so much for the offer of the pattern. I would love it! Could a beginning knitter-I have made a few scarfs and dishcloths- with the help of her more experienced knitting friends, be able to make this? Maybe Angie could help us share email addresses. Thanks Angie!
