YLF Homework: BR Sloan pants - YouLookFab Forum

I was a good girl and finished my homework earlier than expected. While hubs was in Guitar Center, I popped over to BR to try on Angie's rec: the BR Sloan fit pants.

1 - Size 4

2-3 - Size 2

I like the way that the 2s don't create those saggy crotch lines that I seem to get in every other pair of dress pants! I guess my only concern would be if they are too tight overall? Side view included to show the undisguised bootie curve. The fabric is very nice and substantial, though, and there are zero pulls/puckers/panty lines, which is refreshing. I didn't buy yet, because I have a BR/Gap/ON gift card coming back to me from my recent boot return.

I think I've had so many frustrations with work pants that I'm not sure what's good anymore. Do either of these fit correctly?

Rae, I can barely see the difference between the two sizes. Which feels best? They look brilliant!

If the size 2's feel good, I think they might just be better. Do you see that horizontal fold of fabric over the crotch area in the 4's? It's not a deal breaker if the 4's feel more comfortable, though.

If you can sit bend and breathe in the 2's then those are the winners. I find they stretch out ever so slightly through the day.

It's interesting to see Rae's concerns and the comments... I have 2 pairs of these pants that fit me the way the size 2 fits Rae that I've recently taken out of potential work rotation because I thought they were too tight. Apart from pants feeling too tight to be comfortable are there any signs to size up e.g. puckering on the back of the thigh... and are those horizontal crotch lines generally a sign of too big or just an issue of body shape and pants fit?

Angie, that fabric is UH-mazing! I definitely feel like those pants are worth the initial price, which is not something I say often. Now they'd better not sell out before I get my gift cards back! :0

I'm glad y'all like the 2s, because they definitely feel the best. The fabric moves very well, and there are none of those pucker lines on the back of the thigh that Belladogga mentioned. I *can't stand* those horizontal crotch folds, so I'm happy they are not supposed to be there. o_0

Does anyone know the BR store returns policy? On the site, it says "online orders can be returned within 45 days" - does this apply to purchases in-store, too?

I'm thinking I could buy to hoard my size, then return and buy back w/my gift cards... that's IF they arrive in time, though. Is that an evil thought?

Then size 2 it is, Rae! I haven't had an unhappy client in the Sloans. All raving reviews after many laundry cycles, so I am very confident about them.

I am not sure about the return policy.

Do you need to buy them quick? I got the impression that they are a store staple and will always be available. But I don't think it is too evil to hord either : )

The size twos look great. And you're post has helped me figure something out about pants that's been bothering me for a long time--that awful crotch droop. All of my dress pants are doing this...and I thought it's because there was something wrong with me...well there was. I'm clearly buying the wrong size!

Nice to learn the pointers about pants fit! Rae, I'm so glad that the 2s feel as good as they look. It's sometimes one or the other for me.
These are good looking *and* practical. Really good looking! You can always add interest with your other pieces if you find them a bit conservative. YAY for the coming gift card! Hurry up BR!

Sounds like you're sorted with the pants but I just had to say that I would love to have a bodacious booty curve like yours. No reason to disguise it, IMHO.

Agree with Refugee! These pants look fab on you, Rae. And I would definitely buy my size and hord until the gift card comes through. I think the return window is relatively generous. My husband has done something similar to get the sale price on BR items up here in Canada.

Tracina, I'm just paranoid because the small sizes tend to sell out fast. I've already been burned when I hesitated on a few other things. I think you are right that the Sloans will be a staple, but it's possible the next round might be a different material for spring/summer...

Andrea, I always have that problem, too! Maybe it's a booty thing; usually pants that don't have the crotch drop are too tight in the rear and have pulling across the backs of the thighs. It's a testament to the fabric of these pants that they fit the back and front at the same time.

Crotch frown means pants too big, crotch smile means pants too small. Size two looks super on you.

Rae - I have 2 pairs of the these pants, and I just wanted to warn you that they do shrink in length considerably, even if you wash on cold/delicate and line-dry. My petites have given me endless PPL grief even tho I've let the hem out. I just bought the ones you have on (I think - a brown?) in regular hoping to avoid this issue - I'm going to hem to the proper length after washing a couple of times.

Anyway, just a headsup - they look great on you. I too love the fabric and find them to be great work pants.
