YLF goes to Philadelphia!

I have Shana, April, Tanya, and Lisa on the list of probable attendees for this gathering. Based on another thread I started, it seems like October 16 is a good date for all of us. Is that still the case? It's still completely flexible so please let me know if not.

If anyone else wants to join in, please post here. I am starting early because I will probably be Amtraking it and like to buy my tickets early on.

April, start researching pastry outlets...

Oh shucks! Normally this would be doable for me, but I'll be in Ohio that weekend with the marching band. I so much more would rather be in the City of Brotherly Love, eating cupcakes, with the YLF gals!

Okay -- question. Are we thinking downtown Philadelphia (easy for mass transit but the on-foot part somewhat weather dependent) or are we going out to the suburban-yet-amazing King of Prussia mall that also has Nordstrom Rack right next door? Here is the list of shops at the K of P mall: http://www.kingofprussiamall.c.....038;alpha= Definitely not your run-of-the-mill mall.

Go here and click on "shop" for a sampling of what's on the best shopping street in the downtown area: http://www.rittenhouserow.org/index2.html They don't mention it, but there are also two H&Ms and a big Urban Outfitters in the same two- or three-block area.

Thoughts from the potential attendees?

The fact that there is a Second Time Around on the list in the downtown area makes me vote that, by default. But I also think it's a nicer to do "open air" shopping than mall shopping. Maybe it's just because I come from The Mall State (previously The Garden State).

Debora, if another weekend would work for you, we can always change the date. I think the 23rd was clear for everyone too.

The 23rd we are hoping for the Boston-area meet-up, and I was going to try to entice some of the NYCers (I just made that up, must be that New Yorkers need a new name, plus it's in homage of SYCers) to come up a little north. Maya, weren't you saying you need to meet up with Jean?

Thanks for mentioning that Sparky. I guess 16th is the only date that works for everyone then. I would love to meet Jean, it's true, but I can't make it if it's the 23rd :(. Two gatherings in a row just won't work.

Sveta, you can always join us whenever you're ready. Tanya arrived a bit late to the NY gathering and just met up with us mid way. It would be great if you could make it!

I don't expect anyone to plan around me but for what it's worth, I have a previous commitment on 10/23.

There's a Buffalo Exchange in the same block as Second Time Around...

I vote working around Sveta's schedule! (Sveta, not sure what your travel arrangements are, but there's a train line that runs from the airport to the downtown-Philadelphia station. It's called -- with startling originality -- the Airport Line.)

Maya, thanks for trying to include me, but I wouldn't be able to make it the following weekend, either. Another band competition. My weekends are pretty much tied up through mid November. Plus, it looks like the 16th works best for everyone all around.

I will PM you my email but it looks like Oct.16 is not going to work for me after all. My husband's friend and son's godfather who lives in SF will be visiting that weekend. So as much as I'd love to be in Philly shopping, drinking tea and chatting with the YLF crew, I'll be hanging out with 4 men instead (this includes my two sons!).

October 16 for Philly is still good for me. October 23 is no good, family commitment (a 90th birthday, 80th birthday and 25th wedding anniversary party, for the same couple, my grandparents)
