Thanks everyone for the input and encouragement. I'm sorry about the shock of the change. We want to make it a fun surprise, but also realize that there is also a downside to that.

With the fonts there is always an element of personal preference, but it is often more than that. Different web browsers render fonts differently. And every screen (phones, laptops included) shows colors differently. Since it is not humanly possible for us to test the website on every combination, we rely on your input to tweak the design to be the best balance for everyone.

If you do find some element unreadable, or strange looking, please mention the specific part of the page you are talking about and please let me know what device (e.g. type of phone) and what web browser you are using.

Ha! I thought something had gone wrong for a moment - like all the fonts were doing substitutes for some reason, but then I thought *hmm.* I find the new look American and a little bit Grease (the movie). The Home page may also be for a younger mind than mine... but I feel like I'm discovering a lot more things to look into.

Sehr interresant. I am studying this. It's the tech writer in me I think it's a smart change.

Well, this senior appreciates the new font! The new layout looks bright and fresh. I'm already a fan!

It surprised me last night but so far I like the text in posts and comment boxes. I have trouble making visual sense of the front page below the fold, but I have the same difficulty with tumblr and pinterest, so I think I'm just old-fashioned, lol. Above the fold it's nice to be able to see the most recent posts without scrolling and the top level navigation looks really useful.

On the issue of losing posts in process when you go to another page, I write longer responses in notepad or Word (although I get all these weird line-breaks when I c/p from Word) and then paste them into the comment box. Alternately, like Suz says, I open a second version of the site.

My long term wish (which I understand probably isn't that doable given your search engine?) is for the search box to pull up results in date order with the newest first -- many times I want to check on something I remember reading or look up what Angie said about 'X' and need to look through several years of older posts with less applicable info first.

Oh, I was looking only at the forum, not the home page... I like it! Looks really modern and simple.

So happy to see this and it looks fantastic, Greg.

Greg, since I am a grandmother and worked for many years before retiring, I am been through the infancy of computerization and through many iterations of forums. This new design is very easy to use, very easy to read, and just looks darned great. Congratulations to all of you for your foresight.

Incredible and fantastic on the iPhone 6+!

Oh-needed some time to get me over the first shock-or am I getting older:-). Love the aqua/white color scheme, the new spatious page arrangements and the font is also OK for me. Did not yet have the time to venture too deepely but actually there is one thing I am missing when opening the blog. I am much of a visual person and I dearly loved getting a great quality, colorfull fashion themed pictie on the front page (usually Angie's killer outfit of the month in the background and then other of her's or other blogger's other outfits, pinterest collages, or so). To me, it felt like a welcome drink instantly assuring me I'm in the right place (aka home:-)) and was a feast to my my eyes without reading one word. Now, I do have to scroll down a bit to get all these(at least on my notebook), but hey-they are all still there:-). Congrats for a great job Greg!

So it's interesting - I had mentioned in an earlier comment that I found the fonts hard to read because they were so light gray in color. I logged on today from my iPhone and had no problems at all. So I guess the very light fonts are related to the (android) tablet I use.

Wow. That's interesting, Pat. Thanks for chiming back in.

Rachy, high five. The new site looks AMAZING on my iPhone 6+ too.

Rabbit, I write my long forum comments in an email first, just like you. Good point about opening an extra tab, Suz - which is hard to do on a tablet or phone.

Lyn67, you are LOVELY.

Oh dear! I want to be on board with the 'new and improved' but having some troubles with the brightness and text. Will fiddle with my devices to see if I can dim/dull things overall. Better on iPhone then iPad, but I spend most of my time on the pad.

I love, I love, I love!!! Absolutely smashing good job, Greg and Angie! Thank you!

It is a fresh, bright, modern look. Mwah!

I like the overall look of the new page, but I did want to note that what I am getting is the far right part of the page being cut off, so not able to read it. I am on a regular desktop, not a mobile, not sure if that makes any difference, but did want to bring it to your attention. Wanted to add that I have google chrome. Not something I've seen before with a web page so not sure if that's the source?

Love it. I haven't played with it much but will. Thank-you?

I love the new design on my phone and for the forum. I must admit I miss seeing Angie in the background of the home page though... sob...

The launch of your new format coincided with a glitch on my PC, so I was unable to leave a comment yesterday. Coming back now to say how much I like the fresh new look. Thank you for your hard work, Greg.

Less crowded and lots of white is really nice and it's great on mobile.

Thanks for all the support and input.

Just a reminder that if you find anything hard to use or difficult to read, please let me know in the technical support area, or by sending me PM.

The more specific, the better. After I have a lot of input I will do a pass on the design to improve areas that are difficult to use on some devices.

Those who were here a couple of years ago will remember that we went through the same thing with the last redesign. Designs are never really "complete", but this one will be a lot closer once I have incorporated your input.

Great job Greg! I had to get used to the new new font, but now I do find it a bit more fun to read (not quite as easy to read as the old font, but sets more of a stylish tone)

I love the adaptive movement of the tiles on the screen, and I'm a big fan of the tabs so that I can easily jumps to Ensembles or Advice. It also reads much better on my iphone.

Very fun to see a modern revision of the site

I love the new design and color scheme. I especially like the font.

I do wonder how to jump to "latest" in the forum conversations.

Thought I posted this am but it was pre coffee and I obviously fluffed it! After a day using the site, I'm thrilled! Like others I'd like to see more Angie and fewer other bloggers on the homepage but I realise that's a function of post order. And I know it's polite to promote other folks' blogs. I'd like to make a request: is there a way to expand the text area on mobile devices? I can only see 2 lines and it's hard to scroll up to see if autocorrect made me say something rude.

The size of the textarea is something I noticed and have already changed, and you should see that reflected on the site in a few hours.

Regarding the other bloggers, our motivation for that really isn't politeness. It is much more about representing a wider range of preferences, styles and fashion personas on YLF.

Thanks, Greg! This is seriously the best customer service ever!

Just a little observation: when I'm logged in, I used to be able to see a little "preview" of posts in the style exchange and off topic. If new things caught my attention I could pop in to those categories to check them out. I no longer see these little preview boxes, so I often forget to pop over to those categories. I found these to be helpful, especially for style exchange, to see new items pop up. Am I missing something or has this little feature changed?

Otherwise I like the look of the site. Very retro American looking to me.

I was just about to make the same point Jackie made!

Jackiec and Suz...they are the the way bottom, instead of the side. Scroll down...

Interesting, I noticed the same thing as Jackie and Suz. Love the color of the site but need to get used to the new logo on the browser tab. I haven't had any technical issues so far.
