I just booked a room at Hotel East Houston near SoHo. Rates were pretty reasonable for NYC prices. I decided to make a weekend out of it so I'll be there Friday - Sunday.

Oh wow! That's fast work, Citygirl!

Thanks, Sylvie. I've shopped in all those areas you've mentioned I think.

Amy, keep us posted!

The hotel is near the village and I also prefer to stay downtown rather than midtown/uptown.

I'm with Silvie. I much rather go the boutique way. In addition to all of the spots Silvie suggested, I would like to mention the area by gramercy park/ union square, which is a favorite of mine. There is a nordstrom rack there!

I wish I could be there...Have a lot of fun for me!

It's too close for me not to make an attempt to come. I am an almost tentative (how's that for fence sitting?). I need to see if I can coordinate the travel and maybe bunk with some college friends. I'll try to confirm this week. Has it been decided as to Saturday or Sunday for a meet up?

We will miss you, Sveta.

Zap & Mochi, lets do the boutique route for a change. I am game for it all!

Jeanne, I hope you make it!

Rita, Janet, Amy and Jeanne, PLEASE PM me your email addresses so that we can get cracking with the arrangements off the forum.

I'm excited!

Jjsloane, I think it's been decided for Saturday.

Heh, Angie, I was already thinking, "Soho, Soho, let's do it!" GMTA*

My sister recommended this restaurant.

The Mercer Kitchen
http://www.jean-georges.com/ (it may be a brunch menu on weekends)

She may come up with more recommendations, but I'm thinking Jean-Paul George's place sounds very casual and fun. If someone has other ideas, by all means take over!

If not, I can make a reservation if you give me a good time on Saturday; of course Angie's schedule would be the big consideration.

Ciao!

(I hope you don't mind this conveyed on the public forum...for me it's a lot easier than waiting to get all your emails!)

*Great Minds Think Alike

*Stamping feet with Tarzy* and wish I could join in on the East Coast friendship and shopping. Have fun and fill us in on the happy moment.

Soho, Flatiron, and Union Square are all good shopping destinations in my opinion. (I'm not a fan of shopping Midtown.) Soho can get pretty crowded, but I've found it's sometimes more crowded on Sundays than Saturdays.

So looking forward to this. I have a friend who just relocated to NYC from DC and has extended an open invite to stay at his place any time. Then again, I might treat myself to a hotel.

I'm excited! When I mentioned the YLF meet up to DH this weekend, he said, "You should definitely go!" Can't wait to meet everyone.

I will be there.

Nolita is good for boutique shopping, and it's close to Soho. I personally can't afford most Manhattan boutiques so I can't make specific recommendations, but I don't mind window shopping.

East and West villages are also boutique-friendly and within walking distance.

Finding an eating place thereabouts would be my reco.

This is taking brilliant shape! Thanks, Mochi and all.

Just a suggestion, but as an onlooker to other meet ups it is kind of nice to see items that I could actually find as well (meaning chain store) If we could mix in some NYC uniques and a few of the more accessible places it might be a way to share with the folks who cannot make the meet up. I haven't really shopped for clothes in the city since college 100 years ago (and that was mostly 2nd hand stuff form Canal Jean) but I'm partial to SoHo. I have never been to Uniqlo of Topshop and have a curiousity.

I love Jj's response, a tentative maybe.

I would also love to attend. It is a 4 hour train ride for me. It completely depends on my health, though. If you are all ok with that uncertainty, then count me in !!!! I will book a hotel room today. Oh, I should wait for your reply LOL , since you will be making reservations somewhere.

I want to come! I feel terrible for chickening out at the last minute the last time. But knowing myself, should we get a snow storm, or something, I know that I will back out again. That said, pencil me in barring a natural disaster or family emergency.

Vicki, there is room for you in my suitcase.

Bella and Isabel - please PM me your email addresses asap.

Jeanne, I am sure that your request can be arranged.

I have just sent out an email about the event. Please check your private inboxes. If you haven't received my email - please let me know. But check your junkmail folders too

Thanks, Angie. I sent a reply to your private email.

Excellent! Just replied.

Wow. That's a lot of people going. Can't wait to meet everyone. I hope we have name tags so we'll know who every one is because I'm very bad with names.

Oh and I'm game for whatever you all decide to do. It will be nice to get of my city and go to another. Cross your fingers and hope the weather agrees.
