YLF Challenge Chain: Ele challenges Anne

Hanna has tasked me with keeping our challenge group moving while Jenny is away. I drew lucky no. 4 with the random number generator, so I'm issuing my challenge to Anne.

Anne, you're one of the longest-serving members of YLF and our forum would not be the same without you! We all appreciate your pragmatic approach to style, as well as your determination to embrace fashion despite lifestyle (those cute kids) and budget constraints. Personally, I also love your OT posts- you have a way of keeping things interesting around here

You're currently gearing up for Autumn and Winter in your part of the world. Since the trends we're experiencing now will reach your shores by next spring, my challenge is aimed at keeping you at the cutting edge of fashion. Using Angie's guidance on trends for Spring 2010, I'd like you to pick one look that works for you, be it a particular item, colour combo or silhouette, and winterize it.

Because I'm loving all the dual-outfit challenges being issued around here, I'm going to take it a step further, and ask you to create two outfits based on the same trend/look/idea. The first is for your busy life as a MOTG, something you'd wear doing errands or on the school run. The second is for a date with your husband- think dinner and the theatre. There will be bonus points if you can include more than one new trend in your looks!

Let me know if you think this challenge is doable, I can always change it up a bit to suit. I can't wait to see what you come up with

Great challenge, Ele!

I am experiencing technical difficulties! Namely
1) no camera
2) no laptop to download photos
As DH has taken both away for the weekend. I hope to get back to you on Monday and in the meantime will see about setting the next challenge so as not to hold the chain up too much. I'll try and do it before your new day dawns in the US!

Could someone please help me with the list I need to choose from to do the next challenge?

Okay so I now have my challenge photos up. The main way I found this a "challenge" was that we are a season behind most of you and in addition, I haven't really started my winter shopping yet. So the outfits had to be created from older material.
I toyed with using a polka dot dress (my only spotted item), but thought the 2 looks
were too similar.
Then I planned to resurrect an old 80's shirt that I relegated to the dress up box and see if I could use Angie's white tunic looks as inspiration. But I discovered that the being used as a "dress up" has left the shirt stained irretrievably.

So I decided to go with floral dresses as my consistent factor between looks.

This dress is about 12 years old and little tight (don't know if that is evident in the photos) I first paired it with textured tights and black boots but that felt too short (can't believe I used to wear this bare legged!) so I substituted leggings.

The ballet flats are a bit of a cheat because these were a shopping mistake I don't actually wear much because a button fell off them the first time I wore them and I also have major heel slippage.

Oh, I missed this yesterday, Anne. Well done! I really like how you "winterized" the spring trends- exactly what I had in mind!

I love all the layering going on in the second look. The leggings, dress and coat all falling at different lengths looks very art and eclectic to my eye. It would also be fab with a pair of tall black boots (do you have any of those?).

Ele I didn't think of my knee high black boots with the leggings, although I was planning to wear them with textured tights, but decided the dress was just too short to feel comfortable!
