I've just returned from a visit with my 87 year old mother. She is not very well, so I try to spend a few days with her each month.
For many years, for a variety of reasons, she has been a virtual shut-in. She is also legally blind. (She has some, but very limited vision; it takes her a full day to read the paper with a special magnifying glass, and that is mostly how she spends her time.)
IRL she generally wears the same horrible pair of stretch trousers and sweater every day. But she does occasionally enjoy shopping and on recent visits I have coaxed her into Laura where she has bought herself a few nice items. (Now I just have to figure out how to get her to wear them more than once per year!)
On this visit she surprised me by asking, "What is H&M? I saw their ad. They had skirts in ALL lengths. That is wonderful!! I really like that!"
And if that were not enough, "What are booties?"
I just happened to be wearing mine. She was thrilled! "Booties. BOOTIES!! I want to get a pair!"
It was such a thrill to find her still showing interest in fashion, even though her health is not so good.
And if any of you have recommendations for booties that would work on an 87 year old, I am listening!
