Yellow Sweater - For Fall?

I started knitting this yellow angora sweater in May, hoping to finish it before the holidays. It didn't happen, but I made it before the holidays were over. I have worn it with my white pants, white skirt and the striped sundress so far. The color reads very spring-y to me, but I hope I can pull it off in a couple of more "fallified" outfits, too, that are suitable for my pretty casual workplace.

#1: This outfit I hope is as suitable for early Fall as it is for Spring. The sweater has a little drape, and I have faux tucked it. Beige pencil skirt, yellow skinny belt, black peep toe wedges, black tote. What do you think? Does it work?

#2: This is the one I'm most uncertain of: I've layered the sweater and a white button down and paired this with grey slouchy pants. PLEASE excuse the state of my trousers - I pulled them out of storage today and they definitely must be steamed before use! To keep it on the casual side, I combined them with my white Chucks, and the red bag picks up the red line on my shoes. What do you think? I'm very interested in your opinions on the shirt tails and the pants/Chucks combo, or whatever else you may notice.

I love both combinations. Normally I am not a fan of the shirttail out but I love the combination in #2 it looks casually polished the proportions and fit do it for me. I also love yellow and silver together.

I have a yellow cashmere sweater in the same shade that I wore all winter I would agree that yellow generally is a spring color but sometimes in the depths of winter you need a little sunshine. You could make it more fall by pairing it with olives, burgundies, or charcoals.

I like it with the grey a lot...I think by pairing it with the darker colours you will be able to wear it into Fall.

Wow, you made that? I'm impressed! I like #1 but I love the slightly more unexpected combination in #2! I do not wear yellow (it's pretty unfortunate on my skin tone) but if I did, I would pair it with grey like you did here.

Gorgeous sweater and the fuzziness of the angora is dreamy. I love love love #2. Before I opened the pics I was thinking yellow with grey, but navy would also work nicely.

In #1 I like the strong horizontal lines of the neck and hem balanced by the drape of the sweater.
I really like the layering in #2. There is a bit of a nod to the 80's in the untucked shirttails which I find charming. The combination of white, grey and yellow creates that soft drama I have read of in relation to some of Sveta's outfits.
I think your fall light will be the deciding factor on whether this yellow sweater will suit the season. It is so pretty, I'd be wanting the light to do it justice.

I agree with you that this particular yellow reads "spring" a bit more than autumn. But I think your first outfit works for early fall. If you added a scarf in more muted autumnal tones that also picked up the cream of the skirt, it might feel even more that way.

I actually adore the second outfit and it reads more "early fall" to me due to the pants and the grey, I think. (It would also be a super spring outfit.)

I love both the versions and would wear both of them in a heart beat...
For me , the 2 is perfect winter but I am a person who enjoys wearing yellow in winter.
More of if the sun won't come out, I get my own sunshine

The first photo is hidden, but the second outfit looks great. I love the yellow and grey with the crisp white shirt and think the proportions work well. Yellow can be a fall color. Think of aspen leaves.

Thanks, everyone! I'm very happy to read that you approve of my fallifying attempts here. Several of you have come up with additional ideas - thank you so much for that! I will definitely add a scarf to the sweater when the temperature cools down a bit more, Suz, and I also have khaki green pants that will pair well with the sweater. Thanks for reminding me, DV! Joy, I'm sorry about the hidden photo, I might have touched it on my phone unintentionally. Aspen leaves are my fall favorites, they are beautiful.

I'm hesitant to pair this sweater with black bottoms, but I suppose it could work. I took my inspiration from this pin (seealso photo below). Her sweater, however, is less saturated, which makes the contrast less harsh - I think. What says the wise forum?

Beautiful handwork! Definitely fall.

I'm not one to really focus on someone's outfit on the street as not having the correct seasonal color combo--though I might notice shorts & flipflops on a frosty day-- and personally I'm trying to avoid having a completely different spring and fall wardrobe. However, it is fun to try to change palettes a bit with the seasons, so if you want to evoke even more of the fall feeling, then I would aim to remix with some warmer colors instead of the crisp white & black look-- rich brown leather bag, some teal and cognac, suede, more beige than white, that sort of thing. But don't limit your wearing it due to that! I think it goes well with your coloring and will be a nice swing piece that can look fresh in the cool spring and then warm up in fall.

I wonder if you have any deep rust toned items to try it with after looking at those inspiration photos from JulieJohn - maybe even over your leopard print shirt? (unexpected but maybe it could work...)

I would also add, no need to use combinations that aren't good, just to try to force " fall" - note Angie's posts of lots of bright outerwear. If you're wearing pants and covered footwear and so on, weather- appropriate, then that sets a seasonal tone already, and you can still embrace the pretty color
but use accessory tweaks and things that help you create a fall look now so that in the spring you can shift again and get that fun feeling of remixing.

I love the pairing with the gray and white. Wear it as long into the season as it continues to please you. Perhaps you'll find pairings with more saturated partners as the weather grows colder!
