Hello forum,
Here is my end-of-year review.
I have added 16 new clothing items this year, seven of which were purchased, while nine were graciously passed on to me by my sister and mother-in-law. Historically, they have been avid shoppers, frequently changing sizes, and I have often found myself fortunate to receive their gently used or nearly new wardrobe items. Although some items align with my taste, others have minor fit issues, wrong colors, or aren't suitable for my daily needs. Traditionally, I held onto these items out of guilt or respect, causing the clothes to accumulate in my otherwise meticulously curated closet, becoming a proverbial thorn in my side. This year, I was resolute in addressing this issue, carefully evaluating each gifted item. Any with even the slightest issue found new homes, resulting in a happier closet. What I kept has proven genuinely useful, and some have become wardrobe workhorses, an achievement I am proud of. My own purchases were also on target, no wardrobe mistakes here this year.
Now, onto the highlights of this year's additions:
The white crewneck sweater: I've always loved wearing white tops, but I preferred blouses. This year, I've discovered the magic of the lightweight white knit top and I am a convert! I don't think this one is a particularly good specimen, but it is getting a lot of wear, and I'll be on the lookout for more lightweight white knits.
White denim skirt: Excuse the super silly styling in the stock photo! At the beginning of the summer, I analyzed my summer needs and realized that I have quite a few tops that are appropriate for workwear but they are completely orphaned since I don't have any bottoms to wear them with. White denim skirt to the rescue! Perfect for my dress code and many many orphaned tops have been reclaimed and put into rotation.
Shirt dress: This is a new-to-me item. The picture is representative, mine has a slightly different silhouette. I fell in love with this dress the moment I set my eyes on it: the collar! the slightly poufy skirt that skims over my hips! the pockets! I had it taken in at the sides and it was truly the perfect mom-on-the-go dress.
Three-piece navy suit: I've been wearing these seperately rather than together, but I've combined them successfully with older items to achieve a more updated look. Big win!
Red sneakers: I got a matching red bag which was of low quality so will unfortunately have to be replaced (this might be a mistake, come to think of it!), but together, this combo has been indispensable to my winter outfits.
Flat sandals: I've only been wearing Birkenstocks for the last few years. This year, I've decided that I want something a bit more pulled together and got these sandals along with a matching belt. Again, a total winner combo!
Moving forward, I would like to continue to be thoughtful and conscientious in my purchases, while hopefully still keeping a slightly trendy edge.
Thanks for reading!
