Firstly, this is a quick try-on before we leave town for the weekend. I didn’t realize my blouse was askew on my shoulders.
I am surprised at how HUGE these City Chic flares are! They’re bellbottoms imo. The sales photo showed a moderate flare. Maybe it’s my tiny ankles? The flares are giant-wide IRL!
I actually don’t hate them, which surprises me. I don’t know if I adore them. And yet… I’m intrigued by them nonetheless.
1. Denim is stiff, mid to heavyweight with no stretch/elastane/Lycra.
2. They’re a bit snug in the rear, but I feel that’s partially due to the stiff denim. My woven pants all stretch and give after a wear.
3. They will require heels for ease of walking alone. Period. I’m okay with that. Except for college 25 years ago, I’ve never worn flares or bootcuts with sneakers and rarely with flats. I had to go up on my toes for photos so the fabric didn’t pool.
4. One theme for my autumn/winter wardrobe this year is Glam 70s. These do fit that, especially with my new satin pussy blouses and 70s-esque sweater knits.
5. Do I look wide and huge in them??? I feel like I have legs for miles AND wide and huge in them all at the same time.
6. Are they even me or just too retro?
Would love your feedback! Can workshop them when we get back. So let me know if you need more outfits to decide.
Sorry I haven’t been around much. We have had a very busy summer. Family visiting for two weeks. Lots of projects. And then… Our son ended up in the ER on Father’s Day. A filled baby tooth become infected (rare and unusual as the tooth was filled in January). The infection spread to his cheek tissue overnight. Woke up and his cheek was 4x its normal size. Dentist immediately sent us to Children’s Hospital ER. Thankfully we got in just before it spread to his eye or went septic. It was incredibly scary. In addition to the pediatric team, they have DMD (dentist MDs) on call and I’m so grateful. They extracted the molar, flushed out tons and tons of pus, and then he had a large round of IV antibiotics. Sent us home with more antibiotics for the week. He’s healed up beautifully and is back to normal this week. Only 7 weeks until school starts again… what a summer. :}
