Yay or Nay: sheer tights with sandals or peep toes?

It's supposed to be 80-degrees outside today. I picked out a hoseless work outfit with peep-toe mules. I felt totally nekkid and changed to sheer tights and closed-toe pumps. I figure I'll only rarely be able to go sans hose (with a midi skirt, or a longer skirt and boots)... should I just chuck out my peep-toe pumps? Or can I wear those with sheer tights?

Yay = go ahead and wear tights with peep-toes

Personally I don't think it looks THAT bad, although it is not my preferred look. Is the weather going to get any better? There are also this socks that are toe-less, but I don't think those would be of any use to you

I see no reason that you can't wear tights with peep toes. It may not be the best way to sport peep toes, but I don't think it's a fashion crime either.

I voted nay because its not a look I like but if the weather will not cooperate you do what you have to do.

I don't do it myself, but you are so freakin' adorable that I wouldn't mind it so much on you. I do think I'd prefer opaque tights instead of sheer tights with a peep toe, because I hate to see the seam of your tights or panty hose in an open toe or a peep-toe.

I wear sheers and tights with peep toes in the winter, but not sheers with open sandals. I vote yay. Don't throw awesome peeps out!

Angie, I just have solid, sheer tights in various colors (black and navy at home; wine, green, and gray on the way). I've seen people wear opaque tights with peep toes, but I don't think I've seen sheer. MaryK makes a good point about the seams...

It's a "nope, not ever, never" from me. Seeing the toes of your hose (no matter what kind of hose they are) peek out the front of your shoe is up there, in terms of fashion faux pas, with polka-dot panties showing through white pants.

I have heard that they make sheer tights with open toes. Those might be OK, if your shoe covers up the edge of the toe-hole. I've never actually seen anyone wearing a pair, though.

And hose with sandals? Nonononononooooo. That's like when guys wear black dress socks with sandals!

I have no problem with it if the seam is not visible on the peeped toe part (and also don't mind socks+sandals, it can be done well). I think it's possible to wear, but if it's 80F out I would personally forgo the hose.

I'm okay with it provided, as others have mentioned, the toe seam isn't visible. I prefer opaque but I've seen sheer done nicely too.

As long as there isn't a seam and the "peep" is tiny I think you're okay. Maybe a pic to settle the tie?

Definite yay. Seams aren't any problem and peep toe (versus open toe, though on occasion those are OK, too, at least IMO) should be more than fine. Regardless of the shoe, sheer hose are great for this time of year.

I'll fully admit to wearing my black micro-fishnet hose or polka dot hose with black patent leather heels with a tiny peep-toe. (The seam isn't visible at the top of the toes.) I say a qualified "yay" - wouln't necessarily work with every style of shoe or tights, but I don't think it's a total faux pas, either!
