YAY or NAY on this jacket/coat

I'll be honest with you, I don't need any more jackets. I just don't, and I can find no excuses regarding that owning (most of them I didn't buy at full price!):

2 denim jackets: light and dark
1 trench: cream
2 blazers, one of them as outerwear: both black
2 coats for fall (thinner): dark grey (casual, not in so good condition anymore), mustard (less casual, more fun)
3 winter coats (grey, tan, black)
2 leather jackets (caramel, dark brown)

But I really like the price of this... and it might be nice? I have to try it on, so it might look hideous on me/in person, but... well?

I hate to sound negative and I don't know enough about dressing right for bodytypes yet but I think this could look unattractive on some people, too boxy or something, and you said you don't need another jacket. Are you someone who likes to have a lot of clothes?

Just to be an old fuddy duddy, to me these are not exactly outfits, for the purpose of seeing how the jacket works in an outfit. Practically anything worn over a pair of shorts or over a tangle of legs will look as okay as it looks on a hanger. It doesn't have to compete with anything or enhance anything. I think the lines of the jacket are like a lot of baggy runway items, nowadays often shown over baggy/fluid bottoms. A kind of waif look. If not a waif yourself, probably need to be comfortable with a triangular garment giving extra width at the hips.

Elle, I have a thing for coats. I don't own many clothes regarding other items (I don't have many cardigans, or too many sweaters, or many t-shirts... maybe I should spend the money on those items first?), but I feel so great in the right coat. I have the same thing for shoes. But you are right, I do not need it. At all.

Vildy, I am a slim hourglass with IT tendencies. I don't have a problem with my hips, but I do have it with my bust, so I though the neck was ideal, although I would have to see how the coat would fit the rest of my body. Most of my coats are fitted/A-line, so this would be different. I think I'll try it on, just for the sake of it, but probably will not buy!

I vote for trying it on. But, like you said, you already have a nice collection of coats. How will this one help your wardrobe in way that none of your others would?

I had a similar coat a while ago. It was fun, but I jammed my hands in the pockets-because I could! As a result the patch pockets on the front looked baggy and I started to hate them! (I'm a pear though...) I try to stick with in-seam pockets now, I find the patch pockets on the front to look like the jacket is not well made. That was just my experience though...

I'm always attracted to this style of coat - in the 80s I stole one of my dad's suit coats and wore it like this. I'm sure it looked awful on me. I think a tall, slim person could pull this off if the cut is just right.
