Yay or Nay on these ankle boots?

Angie has me looking at patent leather in a new way. But do these look too chunky?

I have a feeling that these shoes in any size above an 8 would look chunky, but if your feet are smaller then it will probably look just fine. The heels get wider as the size goes up, so you might need to take into consideration what you would wear these with. With jeans tucked in, the chunkiness might be balanced out but I'm not sure at all on a skirt or under trousers.

these are nice - how do you plan to wear them?
I don't think the size of your foot matters so much as the proportion.
My feet are VERY small - size 5.5, but they are the right size for me. I am 5' tall.

Yes, I agree, it would be proportion. I love them, but I am a huge lover of Chelsea type boots to begin with. Did you see the one that Angie recommends in the store?

i want to wear them with casual dresses and skirts, with tights. but i think i'm loving these nordstrom booties from Suz's comment. They look sleeker, and a little less like the majorette boots from my youth. Thanks for the link!

I'd say not at all. Ankle fit will be important, tho, IMO. They could look sloppy otherwise.

I actually think these look fairly sleek. The shape of the toe is very nice. I love black patent leather so I may be biased. La Canadienne boots are the very best for bad weather. Where I live in Canada with the brutal winters they seem to be everyone's go to brand.
