Yay or Nay: feathery shell necklace

So, while looking at the long beaded necklace Angie posted about this morning in her fab finds list, I noticed this interesting shell necklace in the Nordie's sidebar. It's kind of intriguing, but I'm wondering whether it crosses the line into Flintstones territory...

Also, I'm having a hard time visualizing what it would look like on... the description says it is 34", which is pretty long, so I'm wondering if it could be worn doubled....

I would def. double it. I think it would add a certain fun vibe to a vacation/summery/beach type outfit:)

Love it – here we have a penchant for wearing natural adornment – you know seed necklaces, shells even feathers, so there’s actually a lot of these types of necklaces about. I’ve seen the natural shell look (like the one you posted) as well as in malformed pearls (lovely as well). It makes a STUNNING impression (saw a lady wearing a slate blue pearl one this morning), especially with a plain top and it acts as quite a modesty saver with lower cut tops. Big YAY from me

Diana, remind me of your usual style? To me, this is a little too, something -- you said it pretty well with "Flintstones territory," or maybe Dances with Wolves.

But if there's one thing I've learned from Angie, it's that the devil is in the details. As long as you're not mixing it with a fringed suede skirt, you may be able to make it fabulous.

April, I aspire to be (term inspired by Una's post) Anthro meets All Saints. So, pretty eclectic. I like patterns, bright colors, and contrast. I *might* be able to make this work, but it might also be too much, which I have a problem with at times... it's a LOT of necklace. My usual statement necklace style is more like a single big pendant on a long chain or something. If this one could be worn doubled, I think it might work...

Hmm, I think I'll leave it in my cart and maybe add it to any NAS purchase I might make...

I think it's kinda cool looking, but I don't think you could wear it doubled. Look closely at the photo and it seems that the shells are only on the bottom portion, not the whole necklace, so I don't know how you would double it...unless you wear just the chain as part of the double.
