Yay or Nay: Can I winterize these summery shorts?

So I have these blackbird shorts from Anthro. They are very summery in a light, flowing material (it's kind of chiffonish in texture but opaque), and are high waisted and kind of skirt-like. I was considering trying to pair them with tights and boots for a winter shorts look... do you guys think this would be a completely terrible idea? Too seasonally confused?

By the way, I know from my poison eye thread that some of you have a poison eye for seasonally confused looks so it's OK if you think this is a terrible idea...

I just voted yay for Una's winter shorts because they are heavier weight wool shorts. I'm going to vote nay for these because they are summer shorts and I struggle with "seasonally confused" looks. But I live in a 4-season climate where winter is snow, ice and freezing temps. If you live in a more temperate area, this might work with tights, boots and a denim jacket...more of an autumn, than winter look. They are really cute shorts, though.

I'm afraid no amount of "winterizing" these shorts would make them look like they weren't meant for winter.

I think the white background and floaty appearance makes these too summery to winterize, sorry.

I have three pairs of winter shorts (black, the ones I have on today, and a red and black checked pair) but all are in heavy wool fabric. I think these could be fall-ified but not winterized for Boston. Am willing to keep an open mind and see you try if you have ideas for them!

Ha, I think you are all right. I may live in Boston now but sometimes I still think like a seasonally confused Southern Californian. Winter? What's that? Do you mean Not-Summer?

Well, maybe I will wait for spring and try this, possibly with sheerer tights and oxfords. But it's probably not a good idea in November. =P

I was thinking the same AJ. They really look like a skirt. I feel like if anyone can pull this off, it's Diana! It'll be a different vibe than the tweedy winter shorts looks though. I feel like it would be interesting to pattern mix this with houndstooth, if you have any. It may fail but could be fun to try?

i think your styling idea is fun, but with the chiffonish material, i really think you'd freeze your bums off in winter..
