Thank you all for your great input! Yes, I am now sure - this skirt is heading to the tailor. I am thinking of making it into a midi and changing the slip full length, different shade.
@Meredith, @Mellllls, @Morethanbeige, @Sveta, thank you for the compliments!
@Joy, I am afraid I can't return it; it was from a small boutique and their return policy is stricter. Also, I have worn it already a couple of times. But I am happy to tailor it.
@Angie, thank you for chiming in. I,ll tell my DH he got a 10 on his choices from you!
@Christieanne, this is a good idea, but it would be such a pitty to loose so much of the pretty fabric! I will try midi length first, and if that doesn't work, then I'll go shorter. But thank you for the suggestion, I keep it in mind.
@Diana, you pinpointed the problem. The white slip is supposed to be "cool"; ends up being gauche. And yes, a long slip. If the tailor asks me for too much money, that's what I'll do. Thank you for the idea.
@Teeandcee, two great suggestions here. High-low: something to discuss with the tailor. Also different footwear is to be explored.
@Midwest Girl, thank you for seconding me in the white tunic choice... I think it will be very pretty with a midi.
@Deborah, @Jjsloane, @Kiwichick, thank you for your frank and honest opinion. Much appreciated, and very helpful too!
@Suz, that's it. With warmer temperatures blowing this way, I wanted to fulfil a little girl's dream of being free-in-the-wind, artsy, romantic... (I was a little girl in the 70's). DH has his feet on the ground and knows I'll be busy teaching in offices this summer. So I'm okay wearing them, because I won't feel out of place. I could not imagine myself teaching in stern government offices wearing any of the first 3 outfits. Thank you for the boost about the colour! I love it myself but people around me all say the colour is blah (on the rack). So your opinion confirms my choice!
@Claire, yes, gamine is my style. As a teen and a young 20 something, I was very influenced by the Mod style. Sometimes I try to steer away, but it always ends up stray away. So I'll keep it in mind.
@Makrame, thank you for the compliments! I was attracted to that geometric print too. There is something very crisp about it, even though the dress is shapely.
@Janet, yes, those dresses were at Costco in a little stand away from the clothes section. These are private companies who rent a booth space from Costco and stay there for a week or two. I grabbed those dresses that were half the price at least of what you would pay retail. DH loved them so much he suggested to get me more (!!!) but when we went back Friday they were already gone.
