WTW (What To Wear) to a Wedding

Hi Ladies,

Like a few of you I'm also feeling a touch under the weather and with a busy workload I'm struggling to even think about what to wear to a wedding on Saturday!

Not to mention the extra kilos that have made themselves at home around my hips and middle which is adding to the challenge!

So the wedding is a young couple from church. The wedding is being followed by an afternoon tea rather than a full evening meal type reception and as is the way here I am expecting anything and everything in the way of wedding attire:)

Given its a day function I thought this might be suitable? Black pencil skirt, ink blue slightly (but not traditional) peplum blouse, skinny black belt, black and grey animal print wedges. I could add some color with my red pumps but it's a standing event and my wedges are much better for standing. Sadly some other options are a little firm and if I go with this I will purchase some kryptonite grade spanx:).

Oh and I need to wear this to an AGM (I'm a Board Member) in the morning and will be leaving from there to drive an hour directly to the wedding.

Your honest feedback would be greatly appreciated. And please excuse my after work hair and lack of make up.

I am new to this forum, but the first couple of things I thought of were the fact that its a day wedding. I would think about adding color for sure. Also, you are doing black and dark blue together, can you tie the colors together somehow with a scarf, bag, shoe cami or some other accessories? More color.

I agree that the red pumps would also look good, but comfort trumps all when you need to be standing for a long time.

Love your necklace! Looks like a lovely and appropriate ensemble. I would love to see a splash of color somewhere, but you have to be comfortable.

At first I thought your necklace was made of rhinestones! I love how it adds brightness to your face and looks so modern. Work-to-wedding is quite a dressing challenge, but I think this fits the bill. Wear your comfortable leopard shoes; they look great. Do you have a black and white clutch to tie in the necklace?

I like this and think it is perfect for the days' events. However, I'm well aware of the black and blue trend like everyone on this board, so I understand the look. It's somewhat subtle, but with very on-trend elements. Do you think your "audience" in this case will get it? Will everyone else be in colourful prints? And how would you feel about that? I think I'd be fine with it

How warm or chilly will the event be? Will you need a topper?

I really like the outfit, but for a day wedding, perahps a bit more color?

If you need a topper, maybe you can add the color there? I would say a scarf, but I think it would compete too much with the necklace.

Thanks ladies I'm taking all your thoughts on board:). Im now wondering about a coloured skirt instead. I have red or cobalt pencil skirts. Do you think the navy with cobalt could be a possibility

I do, Deborah, if the tones work together. (Some of my navies would work with cobalt, others, not so much...just depends.) I think that would be a lighter, brighter look - give it a try for us!

As one who understands the setting you are talking about, I think your carefully chosen outfit would be most appropriate, and is very attractive. While I'd kind of like to see a bit more colour too, I think the necklace provides enough brightness and sparkle.

We will be wedding twins this saturday!

Suz had a look at the cobalt tonight but I don't think it's the best combo. Will try the red and post pics tho:)

Anne if course your wedding is this weekend! I am sure it's going to be lively day for your brother and the family. You are going to look stunning in your outfit:).
