WTW vow renewals

My husband told me today he has organised for us to renew our wedding vows for our 25th anniversary... in LONDON! I am so excited but have NO idea what to wear. We are travelling for a month afterwards and I willneed to take my outfit with me. I dont usually do dessy events, even though this will be faitry low key and just us but it is a lovely church in the city. Two looks that appeal at this time are dessy top, or bold solid colour dress... but I am open to suggestions please... I am very curvy and fairly tall so flat shoes will have to happen.
I am looking forward to any suggestions!

I like the idea of beautiful separates - those can then be remixed and worn throughout your trip. You could shop with that in mind and build your trip capsule around them. Fun! Sounds like a wonderful trip

Separates do have the advantage of being versatile on your trip. On the other hand, a simple dress has the advantage of being complete in itself, easy to wear.

Do you wear jersey at all? Some sort of jersey might be good because it prevents wrinkles.

Jen, great to see you:). I love #1 for you. It is certainly reflective of what I view as "your style". Would you go for a skinny pant? I could see you in a tapered slouchy pant with that style topper.

And congrats and how lovely. We renewed our vows on my DH's 50th birthday but it wasn't in London;). How fab!

What a wonderful anniversary surprise! Kudos to your DH for setting up a great surprise and celebration of your unity!
I would love to see the outfits on you to better be able to choose. Without that, I personally would go with a dress that could be dressed up and down later in your trip.

Nice to see you post, Jen, and what a great Hubby you have. I vote for a jersey dress in your best color for a feminine and romantic look. That will be also comfy and easy to dress up/down for different needs during your trip.-for ex. with booties. Wish you both Happy anniversary! (BTW, I still wear my pearl studs...).

What a marvelous plan! I think I see what kind of look your thinking of in each inspiration photo, although I imagine you won't be highlighting your lingerie as in #1 (I've done this unintentionally, though).

I love the idea of a dressy tunic for you, with slim or drapey pants -- either could work. As for a dress, I'd consider a ponte knit -- a bit more stable than a jersey, or more forgiving over the contours of the body. Either way, I'd choose a fabric that isn't too fussy about being in a suitcase!

I love that first outfit -- and the second one is beautiful too. But I kind of love the idea of sleek, elegant separates like #1. Any chance of seeing some options on you?

Congratulations! I adore both looks, but as others have said, #1 has the advantage of being worn again, in pieces or altogether. It might pack better as well. LOVE.

It would be great to see some option pics, and I like the idea of separates due to the London weather.
A dress might be too cool or not as Fab with a necessary topper.

I know why I love YLFers thank you for your wise ideas! I think I better hit the shops here to see if I can replicate the looks and will get pictures to share with you. I notice a local designer has some longer floaty tops and while you can't see it on this picture, a shorter simple white tuxedo jacket which is the kind of thing I could wear... Its a little similar to an Eileen Fisher look as well which I could get shipped here from the USA in a few days... We leave in about 3 weeks so I better get hopping...

I don't know if it is practical for your trip but I love the dress in pic 2 & have had it pinned for ages. If you find it let me know lol. Oh and you can always ship it back home. I guess a dress you can only wear once on the trip may not be deserving of space in your luggage but it is your wedding vow renewal & the photos of separates that you wear over & over on the same trip might not make the vow renewal photos indistinguishable from the rest of the photos.

I vote for look one...it has a chic vibe that says style...On the practical side, this would accomodate more activities than the dress...If I were selecting an outfit for a renewal, this would be the one..
