WTW to see the Queen! Reposted bigger pics I hope...

No, I'm not meeting her! But I'm going to a big church service on Thursday that she'll be at (together with the Duke of Edinburgh and Princess Beatrice). Life has rather got in the way of things recently so I've only just realised I may need to look ok...

Sorry I post so little at the moment but any thought on these outfits really appreciated. Have time to shop in the next day or two (possibly accompanied/encumbered by small children...) but fresh out of ideas of my own. These are all SYC. Happy to buy finishing touches or look for specific items to make something work.

Are any of these any good? Improvements? Suggestions? Additions? Code is: Day dress, hats optional.

1 - deleted as wasn't finding favour. Here's my azalea instead so the numbers don't get out of order...

2-3 - black sheath dress, purple and grey scarf, grey non-leather moto, silver/black striped opaque tights, black pumps

4-5 - same dress, different jackets

6-9 - variations on a theme - with and without scarf and broach

10-11 - zany colour clashing and would get new fun hose for this. DH has vetoed at the moment because of the colours but I still had fun trying it. 11 doesn't show the colours properly - jacket is more of a tomato red, but he's probably right!

12 - same dress as in 4-5 but in different colourway. I ran out of steam trying things on.

My favourites are #2 and #10. They are both elegant but with beautiful hits of color.

2 and 10 look the most conservative and 5 and 6 the most fun. Every one of these is a winner though--I'm just not sure what is considered the most appropriate for that kind of service.

You look wonderful in all of them. Do you need to wear a hat/substantial fascinator?

My favourite are the two patterned looks with the shorter red jacket. If you are wondering about appropriateness of pattern vs. plain, Princess Bea wore a printed sheath to the memorial service for the Queen Mum and Princess Margaret earlier in the week.

Polly, the only one I am not loving is #1. The others are all very polished and appropriate. I am leaning toward a combination with the red jacket though. Have fun.

#1 is out, but any of the others look appropriate. If its daytime and NOT a sad event the coloured outfits look pretty nice and would make a nice nod to Spring... DO NOT do what the Dean of my university did when we had an event with Prince Philip and staff were told to wear business attire. She wore a strapless frock and fou fou-ed her hair. When her part of the presentation acknowledging the Prince was broadcast around the venue , her head and shoulders shot looked, unfortunately, like she had just emerged breathless from between the sheets lol! So definitely keep on the JACKET!!!! And have fun - I am IMPRESSED!

Sounds marvellous! And all but #1 are entirely appropriate and especially 4, 5, 6, 8 look like fun, with the cream jacket in top spot for me; but I also like the #2 and #10 looks if you're after a more conservative/authoritative image.

My favorites are #4, #6, #10. I'm not a huge fan of #2 (the first outfit) because it doesn't have the bright and fun vibe as the other. But I don't know what is appropriate for such an event.

Thank you everyone! I've tried to repost the pictures and I'm hoping that they're bigger now.

I've deleted number one as no-one liked it (and not me in retrospect) and put a pretty picture of the azalea outside my door instead to keep the numbers right!

Amusingly, we are level pegging with basically the same number of votes for 2 (as a conservative option), 4, 5, 6 and 10(also as a conservative option)!

Any more input would be wonderful.

Fi - hats/fascinators are optional. Part of me likes the idea, part of me is scared that it's one more thing to sort, but if I can get the outfit basically sorted I might see what I can find...

My favorites are 4, 6 and 8 - that jacket is a beautiful color and fits you nicely. If you can swing it I would jump at the chance to have a great hat and a little clutch or daybag! I've heard there are rules to dressing when meeting the queen (but maybe that only applies when you're scheduled to be introduced?) about wearing hosiery etc.. How exciting, please post your selection when you've decided.

still love 4, that cream topper really gives a sense of the occasion.

Well, #4 edged into the lead...

BUT #5 is the one that DH voted for when he was (longsufferingly) taking photos last night and not complaining over the lateness of supper.

He is chuffed that Angie shares his view.

So #5 it is.

I'll try it with nude micro fishnets and my red clutch tomorrow. If the red doesn't go might try to buy another.
