What THEY wore as wedding guests .... I am almost sure the guests outshone the brides at these weddings I saw in the town square yesterday. Its times like this I wish I travelled with a good camera. Every guest was beautifully dressed - I rarely see people dress to this level at home anymore... Backed by bands, fireworks and cannon fire - a wedding truly is an important part of the fabric of life...

The colours of the dresses are gorgeous in #1...
The spanish influence in the dresses and level of grooming detail in #2 and 3
This dress is just unbelievable #4 - it is in 3 as well with a black leather biker jacket!

No the bride was almost plain in a long soft strapless cream lace gown... But I call that a swan dress - with the bustier, ankle boots and biker jacket off setting the swan skirt...

Oh she just seemed the most beautiful young woman in all ways - look at her showing the little children the flowers and confetti etc... she might have been a good friend of the bride

This jives with what I learned from friend whose DD married a young man from Spain, in Spain--the dear MOB felt totally unprepared for the level of dress at her DD's Spanish wedding. Just as you reported and photo'd--extremely formal, elegant and often perfectly matching gowns, shoes, hats worn by all the ladies. Stratospherically beyond what is usual attire in U.S. even for formal weddings.

That doesn't surprise me at all. Like I've said in earlier posts, women in other countries usually dress nicer than they do here in the U.S. My DH's cousin has a son who is getting married in a couple of weeks. They live in Central America, and are planning a very formal wedding. Dress is formal (it says so on the invitation), and the women are expected to wear long gowns. Only my DH is going to attend the wedding, as it would be prohibitively expensive for me and our 3 DDs to tag along--especially when we'd have to buy long gowns, as none of us even owns one.
