So. The pink Zara jacket went back. The Lanai is going back. The Banana Republic Tuxedo jacket is going back (because of the sleeves).
Right now I have 3 presentable jackets:
White leather
Taupe leather
Blue Zara jacquard
And guess what? This weekend I have to give a daytime workshop/ presentation. There may be a radio interview involved as well. There are also several evening events where I'll be part of the audience, but where, as an invited presenter, I may have to talk with lots of strangers. Also, I am travelling 5-6 hours to get there, by train.
And boy, am I ever wishing I had found my suit.
I have done a really nice job of getting my work-at-home capsule into better shape this fall. And with just a few lingering wardrobe holes in this part of the closet ( PJs, workout gear, an interesting cardigan or two) I've been feeling pretty fab at home so far this autumn!
I've also done pretty well with footwear and am proud of my increasingly versatile closet of booties and boots.
But -- naturally -- just when I need to figure it out fast -- I am realizing that I'm not doing so well in my appearances capsule.
I managed to pull it together in transitional weather for the Writersfest, a little over a month ago. But I'm not confident I can be as successful in the current weather conditions. (Forecast: cold ...around 5C ... and showers...oh...and we'll be walking from venue to venue....)
The look I am after:
Smart casual -- not dressy -- but for evening, something "cool" would be ideal. The venue for one evening event is a jazz bar. But not a fancy one, from the look of it.
For the presentation, not corporate looking, not starchy, but not as casual as my work at home wear, either. More polished.
I played around in my closet a bit this evening and looked over older photos. But I wasn't feeling great about any imagined combinations.
I realize you don't know my closet as well as I do, but if anyone has a suggestion, I am listening.
